reason的用法~与Why ，that 的搭配

一般来说，都是the reason why....或者the reason is that....或者是当reason 是从句主语或宾语时不用Why而用that ,但是1994年版的牛津双解字典中在reason 的注释中有一个例句:He plains with reason that he has been punished unfairly.他抱怨所受处罚不公平是有理由的.这句话应怎样理解?为什么 reason前没有定冠词the ?句子成分又应怎样划分??其中reason 是什么成分?为什么用reason that 而不用reason why ?

楼上siooya分析很对，可是翻译有错误，至少是容易导致误解。

"这句话中的with reason是一个词组，相当于一个副词的作用，表示有理由的，用来修饰plain，而that引导的是一个从句，做plain的宾语

句子的结构应该是plain that... "

另外，如果用了定冠词the，那么，the reason that...就变成的宾语从句,意义就截然相反了。
