写好硬笔楷书，主要抓好两方面即用笔和结字（间架结构），硬笔楷书的用笔主要是写好基本笔画，另外要了解掌握一些常用的专业术语。下面分别简述之。
一、基本笔画书写要领
在传统的书法中，总是把基本笔画的写法要求说得很繁杂深奥，本人用简单易记的口诀归纳为：“横上斜，竖挺直；撇捺出锋，点要快”。解释如下：
“横上斜”：由于人们的视觉误差，横画一般要向右上方稍斜一点，这样容易得势。打破“横平竖直”的误人子弟的俗念，一击顿悟，改变原有的书写笔法。 “竖挺直”：竖常为一字之脊梁，要使一个字立如松，书写时必须做到挺直，但要注意曲中见直。竖有悬针、垂露之分。本人发现悬针常会用于一字之中的末笔，收笔出锋，而垂露则要停顿后转入下笔。 “撇捺出锋”：撇捺为一字之翼，只有出锋飘逸才能有灵动之美。书写时注意撇捺要对称，不宜一高一低。撇捺又如人体之手或足，有一波三折之美，捺画一定要写出捺脚而出锋之。
“点要快”：点为一字之眼，一个小点其中也蕴含起落的节奏，要想起到画龙点睛的效果，书写时要点到为止，眼到手到，强调一个快字。不能拖拉，写成一短线段。书写时要凌空而入，腾空而起，似小鸡吃米，时起时落。 点有斜点、竖点、左点、撇点之分。其中唯有撇点用笔时要先重后轻，其它则先轻后重。 另外，在基本笔画练习时，加强起笔、行笔、收笔三步曲的节奏感培养。边写边在心里默数一、二、三，这样容易见效。
二、间架结构书写要领
间架结构的研究古今之述备矣。，编成口诀式的顺口溜，不仅通俗易懂，而且永记不忘，收效显著。
“字如其人”，字的外形美与人体美有相同之处。人体有体腔和四肢组成，人体美有动静之美，立如松，坐如钟，卧如弓，行如风，这些形体美无不与字的外形美有异曲同工之妙。所以，习字时要松紧相宜，更应突出紧凑。
对复杂的间架结构规律本人用如下几句精炼为：“左右靠得紧，上下要对齐；笔画不打架，均匀来安排；相同笔画不一样，一字之中有重点”。简释如下： “左右靠得紧”：
凡左右结构的字要注意左右相互避让，中间笔画要靠紧，两边笔画可以向外伸展。左偏旁写得小点，右边要突出。包括左、中、右结构也是如此，如：板、话、江、徐、树、微等字。
“上下要对齐”：上下结构的字要做到上下重心对齐，不论上宽下窄，还是上窄下宽，其重心要在一条线上。对于重心的确定本人认为：对称的字的重心线在中间的笔画上，如：重、宝、南、画等字重心线在竖画上；又如窗、家、图等字的重心在点画上。不对称的字的重心在交叉点，如：各、要、含、命等字。 “笔画不打架”：楷书的点画要分布有序，错落有致，不重叠交叉。如人之面目五官端正，眉目清楚。书写时注意笔画避让，避免出现笔画重叠和交叉的败笔。容易出现败笔的字如：给、米、拾等字。 “均匀来安排”：指一字之中笔画分布均匀，间隔相近，松紧一致。
如“量”字，各横画之间间隔要均匀；“州”字竖画间隔均匀，“杉”字三撇之间要匀称变化。
“相同笔画不一样”：书法讲究自然美，一幅作品中字与字或笔画与笔画之间都存在差异，好象一片森林中找不到两棵完全相同的树，一棵树上找不到完全相同的两片树叶一样。如相同的笔画注意长短、方向的区别。如“美”各横长短不一，“徐”字撇画方向不一等。 “一字之中有重点”：任何事物都有主次之分，书法也讲究主次分明。一字之中总有一至三个突出的重点笔画，这些笔画一般要求写得舒展挺拔，为了重点突出，一般要把其它笔画写得更收敛一些。如：三、见、除、永、命等字。
三、常用书法术语简释
了解和掌握常用书法专业术语，有利于克服通病，摆脱不良的俗气，提高硬笔书法的艺术性。
“一波三折”：指捺画在书写时从起笔、行笔、收笔的表现形状似水波一样，起伏波澜。也是我们在练习基本笔画所要求的那样表现一、二、三的节奏感。
“燕不双飞”：指一字之中若有两个捺（点）画时，一般要进行处理，只保留一个捺画，其中一个捺画要写成点。书法中经常把捺写成点，这也与忌雷同的要求一致。如：森、资、集、资、然等字。
“曲中见直”：指在书写竖画时不是一味地笔直，而是涩进中求挺直。好象人体的背一样虽然有弯弓但感觉是挺直的，这样能表现出一定的力度，否则， 虽直尤斜。如：中、市、不、生、来等字。 “雷同”：在一字之中，其意等同于“相同笔画不一样”； 在一幅作品之中， 指相同的字要避免笔法完全一致，力求变化，但整体风格要讲究统一和谐。
“透气”：指一字之中每个封闭的空间要自然留出空隙，保持互通，这样才能气息顺畅。好比是建筑设计中各房间都有门窗一样，使空间内外相互通达。如：口、目、中、国、通等字。
“笔断意连”：指一字之中笔画的来龙去脉要交代清楚，笔画之间自然联系、顾盼有情。如：心、城、书、学等；在一幅作品之中，要一气呵成，气息流畅。
1、笔要用硬笔，呵呵，关键是用钢笔，中性笔没有笔锋，所以写不出韵味。
2、起初可以看看钢笔字帖，后面最好写毛笔的字帖，比如《灵飞经》。
3、写写毛笔字，对硬笔有好处，因为硬笔是相对毛笔（软笔）说的。
4、书法是高雅的艺术，所以选一只好钢笔，最好是金笔，因为金笔的笔锋有弹性。
5、多看好帖，特别是毛笔小楷字帖，对钢笔字特有帮助。
