水蛭的作用
杭血凝作用。
水蛭素有防止血液凝固的作用，因此有抗血栓形成的作用。
溶栓作用。
水蛭素有抗血小板聚集和溶解凝血酶所致的血栓的作用。水蛭素是甲醇提取物，在体外和体内均有活化纤溶系统的作用；水蛭的唾液腺分泌物给大鼠静脉注射后有较强的抗栓作用。
杭血小板作用。
水蛭素能抑制凝血酶同血小板结合，促进凝血酶与血小板解离，抑制血小板受凝血酶刺激的释放和由凝血酶诱导的反应。
对血液流变学的影响。
给动物灌服水蛭提取物0 . 45 克／千克，可使血液粘度降低，红细胞电泳时间缩短。水蛭煎剂灌胃，也能使血液流变异常大鼠的全血比粘度、血浆比粘度、血细胞比容及纤维蛋白原含量降低。
降血脂作用。
对食饵性高脂血症家兔，每日灌服水蛭粉1 克／只，无论是预防和治疗用药，均能使血中胆固醇和甘油三酯含量降低，同时使主动脉与冠状动脉病变较对照组轻，斑块消退明显，可见胶原纤维增生，胆固醇结晶减少。
对心血管功能影响。
水蛭素30克／千克腹腔注射，能明显增加小鼠心肌摄取86Rb 的能力，表明有增加心肌营养血流量的作用。
终止妊娠作用。
宽体金线蛭对小鼠早、中、晚期妊娠均有终止作用。用水蛭煎剂2 . 5 — 3 克／千克，于妊娠第一、第六或第十日，皮下注射上述剂量2 次，对小鼠有极显著的终止妊娠作用。
对实验性脑血肿与皮下血肿的影响。
水蛭提取液对家兔实验性脑血肿有促进吸收的作用。实验表明：水蛭能促进脑血肿及皮下血肿的吸收，减轻周围炎症反应及水肿，缓解颅内压升高，改善局部血流循环，保护脑组织免遭坏死及促进神经功能的恢复。
对实验性肾损害的影响。
用30 ％水蛭液15 毫升／千克，灌胃2 次，对肌注甘油所致大鼠初发急性肾小管坏死有明显防治作用，使血尿素氮、血肌酐值的升高明显低于对照组。肾组织形态学改变明显改善。其作用机制可能与改善血液流变学和高凝状态，从而改善肾血液循环有关。
抗炎。
生水蛭对小鼠被诱发的实验性炎症有显著的抑制作用，并能减轻小鼠腹腔毛细胞血管通透性。
其他作用。
水蛭对蜕膜瘤也有抑制作用。低浓度水蛭液对家兔离体子宫有明显收缩作用。水蛭素尚能抑制凝血酶诱导的成纤维细胞增殖及凝血酶对内皮细胞的刺激作用。
