When 与what time 的区别
1. 用作疑问副词“什么时候”，一般用when. 例如：
When do you come? 你什么时候来？
When can you do it? 你什么时候能做这事？
2、When所引导的状语从句中，谓语可以是延续性动词，也可以是瞬时动词，其动作既可以和主句的动作同时发生，也可以在主句的动作之前或之后发生。
It was raining when we arrived.
我们到的时候正在下雨
3、What time本来是用来问钟表表示的时刻的。例如：
What time is it? 什么时候啦/几点啦？
相同意思的问法还有：
What is the time? What time do you have? Do you have the time?
都是问“现在几点啦？现在是什么时候？” 等。由此而来，引伸出
What time do you leave here? (你几时离开这儿？)

when和what time在汉语翻译中虽有表达什么时间，但本质上是有区别的。
比如我问你什么时候来的，这个特殊疑问句得用when开头，以when开头的句子是时间问句，既可以问发生事件的时间点，还可以问发生事件的时间段（比如一件事过去发生的，when did you done that job?last year.）而what time 只能发生事件的时间点，比如问几点了 what time is it?现在几点了？ what time do you wake up?你什么时候醒的？
都是问时间，前者强调大概范围，后者强调具体时间点。几时几分等。
what time与 when 都可以表示“什么时候”.
前者所表示的时间比较精确,指“几点钟”,“几时几分”;
后者所表示的时间范围广,有时也可指“几点钟”,“几点几分”,用来代替what time.
例如：
"What time(When) does your mother go to work?" “你母亲什么时候去上班?”
"She goes to work atseven" “她七点去上班.”
"When will he come back?".“他什么时候回来?”“
"He'll come back tomorrow ”他明天回来.”
此外,what time还可以用作名词,作主语或介词宾语.
简单的说：
when和what time的区别在于what time问具体的时间,如某一天的几点钟,甚至几分钟,而when问的时间比较笼统.因此在问生日日期时,不要用“what time”这个特殊疑问词而应该用when.
这两个的本意并无太大区别，但是如果别人问你“what time”的时候，你回答的时间就更加specific. 例如，“when is next meeting?" "Tomorrow”;“What time is next meeting?" "2pm"
