第一，注重表现性评价。高品质的美术课程为学生提供开展独立试验和探索的时间，学习评价中就应将学习过程与学习成果并重，特别提倡以建立美术学习档案袋的方式开展评价活动；优质美术教学提供更多机会，引导学生作出明智的选择和审美判断，学习评价中就应较少强调掌握一些技术或技能，更多强调审美品位，并对创造性活动中必须承担的风险给予更多的重视。
第二，提倡分层评价。在每一个班级中，学生的美术学习能力与水平也不尽相同，可以参照欧美国家在美术学习评价上的经验，制定“一般水平”和“熟练水平”等分层评价标准，促使每一名学生都能在自己原有基础上对美术学习上的进步与成就进行评价。
