小说中并不曾点出两人不能结合的原因，但电影里却偏偏多出那么一段，真是画蛇添足。因为并不是所有的感情都需要结果，尤其对于一个是学生的孤儿和一个仍然青涩懵懂的舞娘来说，简简单单的喜欢，就够了。何必再用成人世界的眼光来审视这段感情呢？
青春之所以能够带给人感动，正是因为每个人都曾经拥有，又必将失去。因此对于小说或电影或音乐的体验，也才容易某些个人回忆的倒影吧。
小说里提到的核心感觉是：“美好而空虚”，这是个感觉复杂而纤细的词。电影美固然美，却少了一分空虚的超越。所谓“增之一分则太长，减之一分则太短”，差这一分，味儿就变了。
川端康成所想写的当是个“超脱人世的象征的世界”（阿薰正是这个纯洁无暇的世界的象征，所以“我”尤其在意她是否被玷污），而电影里所描绘的，则只是一段人世间微不足道的萍聚，实在有些流于表象，流于简易了。
不过，山口百惠的表演委实是无可挑剔的，美女当然是美女，那一口牙总让我想到“齿如含贝”的句子，但更重要的或许是洁净的气质吧，纤尘不染，澄澈清明，笑时笑，悲时悲，没有一丝的隐瞒，这般光风霁月的心地才是感化“我”的根源吧。
