I was born in Beijing and live in Beijing, and I love Beijing very much. When I heard that Beijing will have a chance to hold the 2008 Olympic Games I feel very happy and excited, and I hope I can do something useful to build Beijing into a beautiful and energetic city.In the twenty-first century, environment is becoming more and more important, so we have "Green Olympic" as a slogan. Of course slogan is just a goal, the most important thing is we should do some things to make it true. Such as assort the trash, save the energy and so on. We are still students now, so we can't do anything really big. But if everybody does something good for our environment we could make Beijing more beautiful. In fact the things we can do are easy. Like not littering the useless batteries everywhere, assort the trash which we want to throw away, and also protect the animals and plants around us, because they are important parts of the energetic Beijing.Luckily I had a chance to take part in an activity that is we planted 5 trees in our campus. My classmates and I worked very hard. This activity doesn't only plant trees, but also contribute to our environment. Look at the trees, I believe, tomorrow there will be more trees and flowers standing in Beijing and give Beijingers a beautiful environment. We are all Chinese people, live on the earth. We have only one capital, just like we have only one earth. If we don't beautify our environment, who will? Good environment depends on good human consciousness. We should say that protecting our surroundings is not easy. That's why I'm standing here to summon people do it.The 2008 Olympics games is coming, this is a chance for us to show the good environment we have to other people. If we do from the bottom of our heart, Beijing's tomorrow will be more brilliant it will have blue skies, cleaner rivers. Who don't want Beijing to become more and more beautiful? If we do our best, tomorrow will be better!

The END

The 16th Asian Games (also known as the XVI Asiad) will be held in Guangzhou, China from November 11 to November 27, 2010. Guangzhou will be the second city in China to host the games after Beijing in 1990. 41 events are scheduled to be contested, making the most events to be ever competed in history of the Asian Games.

The inaugural 10th Asian Para Games, the parallel sport event for disabled Asian athletes, opens December 12 and closes December 19, 2010, two weeks after the conclusion of the 16th Asian Games. The gap in between the Games will be used by organizers to convert all athlete accommodations, meeting halls, training and competition venues used by the Asian Games into disability-accessible facilities.

Bidding cities Four cities bidded to host this event in early March 2004. They were Amman, Guangzhou, Kuala Lumpur and Seoul. However, Seoul withdrew after considering the short span of time between the 2002 (in Busan, South Korea) and the 2010 event.[1] With the withdrawal of Amman, soon after Seoul, Kuala Lumpur also quit the bid after the country's Sports Minister cited the high cost of hosting the Games.[2][3] With Guangzhou left, the Olympic Council of Asia announced the city won the bid to host the Asian Games on July 1, 2004.

Emblem The emblem of this Games from the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall is a stylized goat, which, in Chinese tradition, is a blessing and brings people luck. It is also a representative symbol of the host city Guangzhou, which is called the "City of Goats" or "City of the Five Rams".

Mascot Five sporty goats, dubbed "Le Yangyang," will serve as the mascots of the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou.[6][7] The five goats - A Xiang (祥), A He (和), A Ru (如), A Yi (意) and Le Yangyang (乐洋洋), are a play on Guangzhou's nickname, "City of Goats". Moreover, the Chinese character "yang" or "goat" is also an auspicious symbol, because, when read together, the Chinese names of the five goats are a message of blessing, literally means "harmony, blessings, success and happiness" (祥和如意乐洋洋).

The mascot design is based on a legend about five immortals who took five goats to Guangzhou, each holding an ear of corn in its mouth. There, the immortals prayed for an end to famine, then flew into the sky as the five goats turned into fossils.

Sports Below is the list of sports which will be contested in 2010 Asian Games. Cricket, DanceSport, Dragon Boat, and Weiqi will debut in this games, while Bodybuilding dropped because of the judging controversy during 2006 Asian Games.
