老人与海，这一本不错，也是国外的，不过很薄，我初一的时候4个小时就看完了，剧情很精彩，不担心会烦。
什么巴金，鲁迅，老舍，我都建议你不要去读，他们的文风你学不到，而且时长文字比较古奥，不适合青少年阅读。
你喜欢看武侠吗，强烈建议你看武侠，读名家的，不要读那些杂作者的，武侠比较吸引人，文采通常也很好。不过千万不要入迷。记得以前同学看武侠看到上课都在看，那千万不要。
看杂志吗，建议看一些好的杂志，读者，青年文摘。或者专门订初中生作文类的杂志，也时长也有文采好的文章可以借鉴模仿，记得以前在学校经常看初中生作文杂志，感觉效果不错。这个我是重点推荐的。文章比较短容易起步。
名人传记也可以，你有喜欢的名人吗，如果是男生可以多看一些名人传记，男生不一定文字要写的很华丽，男生的风格最好走机智幽默路线，或者是深刻切实路线，要有想法，有见地。拿破仑的，富兰克林的，甚至是奥巴马的都可以。男生多看点传记没坏处。
历史小说、畅销小说也可以啊，比较易懂，也吸引人。书店的畅销书区可以多停留停留。
男生的话，早点把三国演义、水浒传看完，不过前提是古文要好，可以先读一些相关的评述性书籍，比如品三国之类的。
名著要看，但你现在刚起步的话，不要看那些晦涩的名著，你会很头痛的。
最后提醒你，不管看什么，不要走马观花，否则一定会没有效果，看见好词好句一定要多多停留，多想一想。写的比较平淡，或者说一些背景介绍性的文字，可以略看。要有重点。

阅读对于一个人的成长是非常重要的，尤其是中学生，加强课外阅读，是非常必要的，阅读从大的作用来说，滋养着人的心田，提高自我修养，养成读书的好习惯，终生收益，从小的方面来说，中学生阅读可以增加知识面，提高语文素养，尤其对于写作有着不可低估的作用。
3．常练笔。经常练笔是提高作文水平的关键。要想入作文的大门，并求得不断进步，更重要的是多练。谚语说的好：“文章读十篇，不如写一篇。”这就道出了作文实践出真知的道理。写日记是一种有效的练笔方式，天天坚持写日记，以后作文就有了坚实的基础。
