世上人们对花和叶的廉洁不同，把花栽在美观的金盆中，却不管花叶让它落在土里变为尘土，只有荷花是红花绿叶相配，荷叶有卷有舒，荷花有开有合，衬托得那样完美自然。荷花与荷叶长期互相交映，录荷叶掉落，荷花凋谢之时，是多么令人惋惜啊!

解释:
人间世的花和叶都是不能相比的,花被供入金盆,叶却归于尘土.
只有绿色的荷色衬着红色的荷花,不管是卷是舒都随性自然.
这花和叶长久的互相映,等到翠色减少红色调凌时,真让人愁杀心肝.
赏析:
这也是一篇有深刻思想内容的诗。我国民间长期流传着这样的谚语：“荷花虽好，也要绿叶扶持。”李商隐的这首七言古诗，形象地表现了和这谚语相似的可贵思想。作者说，一般人总是重视花，不重视叶。花栽在金盆里，叶子却让它落地成为尘土。但荷花的红花绿叶，却配合得很好，它们长期互相照映，一直到绿叶减少，红花谢落，使人觉得很愁怅的时候。这样就写出了荷花荷叶的共同命运，而且写得很有感情。
也表现了作者开始咏荷时兴致很高,到了一半却意兴阑珊,开始感时伤怀.
