我们很容易就被他笔下的人事感动了，其实很重要的一个原因就是叶圣陶先生写的都是日常生活中非常熟悉的经验，但是他又能在平凡中找到不平凡，这就是他的高明之处了。
《牵牛花》中的牵牛花不过是一种非常普通的花卉，种在平常的瓦盆里，泥土是反复用的，几年也没有换过新土，也不过就加了一包花肥，但是旺盛的生命力让牵牛花很快就开成了一面全是绿叶和红花的花墙，不由得让人佩服自然界中不起眼的生物的“生之力”。叶圣陶先生的观察是那么细致，特别是对牵牛花嫩叶生长的描述，可以说是刻画得细致入微，就像微雕一样。
叶圣陶先生说得很清楚，“兴趣并不专在看花”，他感兴趣更多的是牵牛花的枝叶们努力生长的过程，而且很是上心，“早上起来，工毕回来，不觉总要在那里小立一会儿”。面对着奇妙蓬勃的自然，谁不会“浑忘意想”呢？
俗话说：醉翁之意不在酒。叶圣陶先生看来是“花翁之意不在花”了。
牵牛花有的地方又叫“喇叭花”，也有催人勤奋劳作之意。牵牛花虽没有牡丹那样富丽，也没有菊花那样高雅，更没有兰花那样芳香，但它那种努力攀登的精神，不择环境而生，不怕荆棘，叶到深秋枝蔓已枯萎，但仍在顶部开放，不被西风吹落的气质，恰恰是我们不可缺少的品质。

只要把牵牛花随便栽在墙角，然后在墙上挂几根铁丝，牵牛花就会顺着铁丝顽强的向上攀爬。我觉得很惊讶，这么细小的牵牛花竟然有这么大的劲力。我想到了我平常在学习上每当遇到难题的时候，就想到了退缩。点了这篇短文后，我觉得自己后牵牛花相比变得很渺小。以后我要像牵牛花那样奋力的在知识的海洋里遨游，越遇到困难就越要攻克它，不要被困难吓倒，这样才能在知识的海洋里游得更远。
