我不能伴着电视入眠。对于我这个有些过敏、略显衰弱的人来说，电视节目的丰富与延时，电视频道的个性与精彩，绝不是福音；把电视机从客厅搬到卧室，也绝不是明智；把电视遥控定时，也解决不了我失眠的无奈。尽管我不会为了电视剧里的人物或喜或悲、或乐或忧，但总免不了看了一集看二集，看了这台换那台，经常在“鸡声茅店月”的美境中眯着倦眼，着衣起床，出庭“赏月”……我必须叫停电视，叫醒书籍，让古贤今哲、佳作美文伴我入眠。
我不能带着酸痛做事。对于我这个喜静不喜动、喜独处不喜群居的人来说，电脑的发明、网络的畅通，实在是喜忧参半。喜的是，电脑让我提高了工作效率，网络让我开阔了视野。但这两样东西也让我尝到不少苦头。为了游戏里的虚拟分数，曾静坐了几个小时；为了赶写一篇文章，曾起过不少早摸过不少黑；为了调整网页，曾听过半夜鸡叫……文章是多写了几篇，博客是增加了点击，然而也付出了颈椎酸痛、腰椎胀痛、视力下降、体质下滑等不大不小的代价。我当然不能顺起发展，我必须康我身心，健我体魄，还我青春。
我不能怀着抱怨生活。对于我这个世事不能洞明、人情不能练达的人来说，“入世”也许不是一件好事。一次民主测评，就伴有一次小小烦恼；一次人事调整，就怀有几份闷闷不乐；一次意见发表，便招来些许悠悠麻烦。常怀有“雄心大志”，常以为“自命不凡”，却常怨世无伯乐。其实，反过来一想，世事倒也公道，天网并无疏漏，是什么材料就做什么物件，看似不甚合理，其实也最合理不过，处处海阔天空，行行能出状元。塞翁失马，焉知非福；非宁静无以致远，非淡泊无以明志，我可以“自信人生二百年”。
我不能带着情绪走上讲台，我不能只考虑自己的得失忧乐，我不能忘却责任，但我也不能活得太累。我不能的时候，对自己说“不”事情，还有很多很多，但只要有了一种敢于对自己说“不”的心态，善于对自己说“不”的智慧，就能让自己真正成为生活的主人。
今天早晨，我六点钟就醒来了。我对自己说，“快起床吧！既然醒了，为什么还赖着不起来！”我将胳膊从暖暖的被窝里伸出来，感觉非常冷，又连忙缩了回去。我又对自己说，“天太冷了，
再睡会儿吧！”就这样一直挨到七点才起床，因为我八点钟要上课的。七点已经是客观所允许的
我最晚的起床时间。
生活中我们不止一次在这样的早晨对自己说，“太冷了，再睡会儿吧！”，“太累了！再休息一会儿！”“急什么！还早着呢！”我们对自己总是有太多的借口；我们总以为自己有太多的时间。譬如我们计划在一年时间内大幅提高自己的英语口语水平，还买了“疯狂英语系列”的《国际肌肉》部分。我们命令自己每天挤出一小时来朗读英语。但是半年过去了，我们有几天是按计划做了？几乎没有！因为我们总是为自己找借口。
“今天有个例会，我没有时间！”但我们从来不会这样问自己，“既然知道今天开会，为什么不早早地调整时间呢？”
“我今天去工作了，太累了！明天吧！”我们也不会问自己，“你真累得连嘴都张不开了么？”
今天过去了就永远不会回来了；明天是明天，不是今天，而且是有限的。事实上，我们都知道这个理，但我们似乎更喜欢拖延，更喜欢在今天和明天之间为自己寻找借口。
再进一步设想，你年老了，行将就木。而你最最渴望的事就是去探望自己的初恋情人，她就住在与你邻近得城市。你有她的地址，她的电话号码，但通话次数并不多。而且每次打电话你都对她说，“我一定要找个时间去看你！”但是，你又对自己说，“太忙了！过一段时间再说吧！”你总以为还有时间，还有很多机会，知道有一天，你收到一份电报：张晓枫女士昨天因心脏病突发辞世。
电报单从你颤抖的手中飘落，你多皱而苍老的眼角无声地涌出了泪水。你抽搐着嘴角和心脏默默地想：她怎么走得这么突然呢？这是一种怎样的遗憾啊！
不要以为这只是一个假设吧！如果我们仍旧在为自己找借口，仍旧拖延和浪费时间，这种事迟早会发生在我们身上。我忽然想起了美国西点军校对其学员的规定——回答长官的命令只能有三种方式，“是！长官！”“不是！长官！”“没有任何借口！长官！”
从现在开始，我要对自己说这三句话
