12月22日3点22分，我国发射了首颗“碳卫星”，这也是继日本、美国之后世界第3颗专门用于监测全球大气中二氧化碳分布的卫星，最终将通过所获得的数据掌握全球大气中二氧化碳分布的情况。

“碳”究竟为哪般？

目前,人类每年因使用化石燃料向地球大气中排放的二氧化碳超过300亿吨，生物燃料、森林火灾以及农业焚烧等每年共排放二氧化碳达55亿吨。科学家认为，这些人类活动造成地球自然碳循环失衡，导致地球表面温度上升和气候变化。因此，对大气二氧化碳水平的研究极为重要。要想真正有效地实施防止全球气候变暖的各种措施，掌握气候变暖的准确情况，首先就需监测全球碳排放，以便采取有效的应对措施，减小全球二氧化碳浓度。

其实，监测二氧化碳的工作在地面早已开展了，而且精度、时间分辨率和可靠性均比较高，但为什么近年还要发射碳卫星来进行监测呢？这是因为在地面监测二氧化碳存在成本高、难度大等困难，所以用于监测二氧化碳浓度分布的地面观测点数量有限，且分布不均，至今全球的二氧化碳地面观测站点仅有约300个左右，并大多位于美国、欧洲等。在南北两极以及海洋、沙漠等地区缺少观测站点，因此难以满足监测全球二氧化碳分布和浓度的需求。

用卫星可使上述问题迎刃而解。用卫星监测全球的二氧化碳分布情况，具有监测范围广，能在全球范围内确定二氧化碳浓度分布的优点，能快速、经济、可重复地获取大尺度上大气中二氧化碳的信息，进而可提高人类对全球碳循环过程的理论认识，改进气候变化预测结果的可信度和稳定性。

日美率先发射卫星

日本和美国是世界上最先发射专门监测二氧化碳分布和浓度卫星的国家。

2009年1月23日，日本发射了世界首颗从太空监测温室气体浓度分布的卫星呼吸号，用于从太空搜集全球二氧化碳和甲烷浓度分布信息，为制定减排政策提供证据，并帮助科研人员进一步了解生态系统究竟能吸收和释放多少二氧化碳。

呼吸号卫星载有2台高精度的温室气体监测遥感器，其中1台是傅里叶变换光谱仪，用于探测二氧化碳和甲烷浓度；另1台是云/气溶胶探测仪，用于提高温室气体观测精确度。由于呼吸号卫星技术水平有限，其所获数据不太理想，为此，日本计划在2017年发射更先进的呼吸2号。

2014年7月2日，美国成功发射了轨道碳观测2号卫星。它装载一种遥感器——高分辨率成像光谱仪，可获取迄今为止最高精度的大气二氧化碳空间观测数据，每16天采集约800万个全球二氧化碳高精度测量数据。

轨道碳观测2号有微光、天底、目标三种工作模式，所提供的二氧化碳测量数据还有更广泛的用途。例如，提供关于全球变暖的各种图表、报告和互动功能。

美国已计划研制更先进的轨道碳观测3号，它将从世界上所有国家的上方飞过，以测量二氧化碳和甲烷的排放水平。

欧洲航天局也计划研制一种先进的“碳观测卫星”。

中国神“碳”将登场

我国即将发射的“碳卫星”的全称叫“全球二氧化碳监测科学试验卫星”。它重620千克，在距地700千米的太阳同步轨道上运行，装有高光谱二氧化碳探测仪和起辅助作用的多谱段云/气溶胶探测仪，用于获取全球尤其是我国及其它重点地区大气中二氧化碳浓度分布图，测精度达到1～4ppm（百万分之几），这一精度达到国际先进水平。

打造中的“碳卫星”

其原理是这样的：由于大气在太阳光照射下,二氧化碳分子会呈现光谱吸收特性,所以“碳卫星”通过精细测量其光谱吸收线,就可以反演出大气二氧化碳浓度，每隔16天可完成一次地球二氧化碳测绘，能分辨地面2平方千米的二氧化碳浓度。它有以下3种观测模式：

天底观测模式就是竖着看，利用地面的漫反射特性开展地面二氧化碳的观测。其空间分辨率最高的，但只有在当太阳天顶角满足设定要求时采用，卫星在海洋上空时，由于信噪比低，所以观测数据无法反演出二氧化碳浓度。

卫星在海洋上空时可采用耀斑模式，即斜着看，利用太阳在海面的镜面反射提高信噪比，获取海面上空的二氧化碳数据。具体说来就是当太阳光被洋面镜面反射时，仪器指向最亮的反射区。采用这种模式可提供足够的信噪比，反演出高精度的二氧化碳浓度。

目标模式用于跟踪地面的特殊目标(如源排放区)，在约9分钟的飞越目标区观测期间内，这一模式可提供对观测点的大量观测数据。

使用多谱段云/气溶胶探测仪,卫星可以排除云和空气中气溶胶的影响,使二氧化碳监测数据会更加准确。

发射“碳卫星”，将使我国拥有第一手的全球遥感二氧化碳数据，极大提升我国在全球二氧化碳监测、排放方面的话语权，为我国在气候变化研究、国际气候变化谈判等方面提供强有力的支持。它也将为全球气候变化提供更加丰富的监测数据，将监测到的数据分享给全球的研究者，体现出负责任大国的担当。
