楼主要想搞清此问题就要先知道英语中三种基本句型，即简单句，并列句和复合句。我们知道英语不像汉语，可以一逗到底。英语中一句话说完后一般打句号（但有时是分号，但这个暂时不讨论) ，下面举一个错误的例子 eg.He has a book, the book is interesting.其中"He has a book”是一句完整的话，而"the book is interesting"也是句完整的话，根据我前面所说，英语中一句话完了就要加句号，所以正确的句子是He has a book. The book is interesting. 但是这样表示毕竟好，我们一般说He has a book, and the book is interesting.重点就在这儿，两个句子间如果要打逗号就必须要有连词，如and,or,but,so等等。你给的例子中so引导一个分句，所以现在这个没问题了吧。还有根据我学语法多年，个人觉得亲你提了一个错误，就是therefore 不是连接副词，连接副词一般引导状语从句，如:I don't know where I should stay tonight.其中where才是连接副词。therefore只是一般的副词，它不能像so那样引导一个前面是逗号句子，换句话说一句话说完了打句号，再写therefore和后面的句子，且therefore位置灵活，希望有用。
连接副词可分为两类，一类是用于连接句子或从句，常见的有之前，除此之外，否则，然而，仍然，因此，同时等；另一类是用于引导从句或不定式。
连词是一种虚词， 它不能独立担任句子成分而只起连接词与词，短语与短语以及句与句的作用。连词主要可分为4类：并列连词、转折连词、选择连词和因果连词。连词也可以分为2类：并列连词和从属连词。
