点评：晋文公是一个雄心勃勃的人。为了实现他称霸天下的愿望，他采取了一系列措施。他与民同苦乐，受到了百姓的拥戴。他减轻关市的征税，减轻刑罚，布施贫民，救济饥荒，使人民能安居乐业。他不断增强晋国的实力，坚守信用，建立起了自己的威信。他即位的第二年，周王室发生内乱，周襄王逃到郑国避难。晋文公知道这是一个立功的好机会，他发兵杀了王子带，护送周王子回到京城。周襄王大摆酒席慰劳他，还赐给晋国四城，晋文公的地位不断提高。当时，与晋有力量争霸的是长江流域的楚国。晋文公想成就霸业，必须向南扩展疆土，非与楚国交锋不可。公元前632年，晋、楚在城濮决战，晋国大获全胜。战后，晋文公在践土给周襄王修了行宫，还把陈、蔡和楚国的俘虏献给周天子。晋及齐、鲁、宋、卫等七国国君和周王室大臣王子虎订立盟约，正式称晋文公为盟主。不久又会诸侯于温，周襄王也被请赴会，任命晋文公为诸侯之长，命他安抚四方，监督和惩治危害周天子的人，从此晋文公成为诸侯霸主。公元前628年，晋文公因病去世，终年70岁。
