FOX电视台对于剧集的宣传也非常到位，从《嘻哈帝国》还没正式开拍，片方就打着“莎翁式音乐剧”的旗号开始对剧集进行宣传，并一直持续到首播日。一套非常完善而长远的宣传计划让福斯打赢了这场营销仗，力压《特工卡特》这样有着品牌基础的热剧。
其实，FOX最初还以为很多观众都不会看电视直播，而是通过视频点播来观看该剧，所以在宣传策略上对视频点播下了很大的功夫。不过，FOX显然低估了观众对这部剧的热情，很多观众都等不及视频点播，而是第一时间观看电视直播，看完随即在社交媒体发表评论，网友的自发点赞让福斯在后期的宣传上轻松不少。
制作的用心和计划的周密，成就了这部剧惊人的收视率和好评率，也让广告费水涨船高，第一集播出前的广告费以数量计算，每个广告约12-15万美元，而季终集的广告费已经改为按秒计，50-60万美元/30秒，增长迅猛。
