(1)左心房
在心脏的左心上部，位于主动脉和肺动脉的背侧，其一角向右前侧突出，叫左心耳。左心房有四个肺静脉开口，接受左、右肺两条静脉的血液(动脉血)；当其收缩时通过左房室口将血液压入左心室。因此，左心房的上面有四个静脉开口，下面有一个左房室口，由于心耳内面有梳状肌而表面凸凹不平，易使血流产生旋涡和流速减慢，在某些病理情况下
(如风湿性心脏病)，左心耳内易形成血栓，脱落后可引起心肌、四肢或脑栓塞等严重后果。
(2)左心室
在心的左下部，偏后侧，接受左心房的血液，收缩时把血液压入主动脉，推动大循环。左心室壁最厚，约为右心室壁的3倍，左房室口在左心室上部的左后方，主动脉口的右前方，两者并列接近。左房室口周围有传向心室的两片呈尖形、表面光滑、柔软而富于弹性、淡乳白色半透明的薄膜，叫二尖瓣。二尖瓣的游离缘和室面借助细而有弹性的腱索连接于心室壁的乳头肌。当心室收缩时，心室内血液即推动左房室瓣(二尖瓣)，将房室口关闭，同时乳头肌也收缩，腱索拉紧瓣膜，使房室口闭锁严密，防止瓣膜向左心房倒开，造成血液逆流。风湿性心脏病患者的二尖瓣狭窄和闭锁不全就常发生在这里。主动脉口周围有三个半月形的薄膜，叫半月瓣。三个半月瓣与主动脉壁一起形成三个兜，其凹陷向着主动脉方面。当心室舒张时，三个兜被逆流的血流充盈使主动脉瓣把主动脉口闭锁，防止血液回流至左心室。
(3)右心房
在心的右上部，接受全身流回心脏的静脉血，收缩时把血液压入右心室。其前部突出部分为右心耳。右心房内腔的上方和下方，分别为上、下腔静脉口，是心脏自身血液回流入心之处。心房腔内壁房中隔上有一指压形的卵圆窝，是胚胎时期左、右心房的交通孔—卵圆孔。出生后逐渐闭合，若出生半年以上卵圆孔不闭合，就形成一种叫卵圆孔未闭的先天性心脏病。
(4)右心室
在心的右下部，接受右心房的血液，收缩时把血液压入肺动脉内。在房室口周围有三尖瓣，有防止右心室内的血液向右心房逆流的作用。肺动脉口在右房室口的前上方，其周围有三个半月形的肺动脉瓣。肺动脉瓣的形态和机能与主动脉瓣相同。
