朱和墨都是一个人生活的环境，环境的好坏对一个人的成长的确具有很大的影响。一个坏的环境常常会使人在不知不觉中腐化堕落。青少年因为结交了坏的朋友而使思想变质，导致最后走上犯罪道路，就是一个好的证明。但由此就断言“近墨者一定黑”，我想这未免太绝对化了。
近墨者未必黑，否则，哪来“出淤泥而不染”呢？我们承认环境对人思想的影响作用，但并不是决定作用。近墨者到底黑不黑，这要看一个人的心灵如何。如果一个人的意志薄弱，那么这个人在好的环境中未必能成才，在坏的环境中更要同流合污了。但如果一个人意志坚强，品德高尚，那他在坏的环境中不但不会被污染，反而能够显示出他的高风亮节。被称为“中国脊梁”的鲁迅先生，没有因为生活在黑暗的旧社会而消沉，他对旧社会“浓黑的悲凉”深深地体会过了之后，以笔为枪，向那个他所憎恨的黑暗世界提出了挑战.有些人民的公仆在金钱的诱惑面前,始终保持了廉洁的作风.这些都是"近墨者不黑"的表现,都是"出淤泥而不染"的表现!
