燕国，中国周朝分封的一个攘夷姬姓诸侯国，国君为侯爵，为战国七雄之一，开国君主召公奭是西周宗室大臣，与周武王、周公旦同辈。
周武王封召公奭于燕，召公奭长子燕侯克代封 ，燕国的疆域范围大致为今天的北京、天津、辽宁的全部，朝鲜、韩国、河北、吉林、山西、内蒙古的一部分。
由于燕国建国以后的较长时间内与中原各地来往甚少，所以文化较中原各国落后。燕桓侯时，山戎南下攻燕，燕被迫迁都临易。燕庄公时在山戎的侵略下险些亡国，靠齐桓公“尊王攘夷”的军事帮助才得以保全，并进而在日后有了发展，成为春秋时期十二诸侯之一。
前323年，燕国参加了公孙衍发起的“五国相王”活动，燕易王称王。前320年，燕国发生子之之乱，在赵武灵王支持下，立职为王，燕国国都被齐国、中山国攻破，燕国相国子之死后二年，燕国人共同拥立太子平，这就是燕昭王。
燕昭王即位后招贤纳士、励精图治，燕国国力大增，占领了中山国北境一带。燕将秦开东向击胡，拓地千余里，使真番（首尔、京畿道、忠清南北道）、朝鲜（平壤、开城以及平安南北道、黄海南北道）归属自己。公元前284年，燕昭王以乐毅为上将军，与秦国、赵国、韩国、魏国合纵攻破齐国，几乎占有齐国全境（除了莒、即墨两城），燕国达到全盛。
燕昭王之后燕国国势大减，前222年，燕王喜被秦国俘虏，燕国灭,。

赵国（公元前403年——公元前222年），中国春秋战国时期诸侯国，战国七雄之一。
国君嬴姓赵氏，为商朝名臣飞廉（蜚廉）之后，原为赵侯。至造父以下六世至奄父，奄父生叔代，叔代以下五世至赵夙，赵夙孙赵衰事晋献公之子重耳。赵衰随重耳逃亡十九年，重耳返国为晋文公，赵衰任国政。赵衰卒，其子赵盾嗣；赵盾卒，其子朔嗣。朔子赵武于晋平公十二年（前546年）为晋国正卿，赵武传赵景叔，赵景叔传赵鞅，即赵简子（前518年—前458年），赵简子传赵襄子（前457年—前425年）。
赵烈侯六年（前403年），韩、赵、魏三家分晋，周威烈王始命赵烈侯赵籍为侯。至赵武灵王（前325年—前299年）始称王，至王迁，前222年，灭于秦国。公元前208年，赵歇重建赵国，定都信都（今邢台），数年后为汉将韩信所灭。
赵国全境东北与东胡和燕国接界，东与中山及齐国接界，南与卫、魏、韩三国交错接界，北与楼烦、林胡接界，西与韩、魏两国交错接界。国都在晋阳（今太原），前425年迁中牟（今鹤壁），前386年赵敬侯迁到邯郸（今河北邯郸市邯山区），在邯郸定都长达一个半世纪。
