死神在这里被翻译成soul reaper，原因是在bleach中死神利用魂葬将灵魂收获到尸魂界，并且将虚从恶灵变回整灵，在进行回收，而在西方文化中，死神是扛着收割用的大镰刀的，自然就被翻译成soul reaper。
魂狩，就是巴温特，西方文化中的吸血鬼是也~他们是彻底的吸收灵魂，更加符合soul reaper的定义，彻底的收割，将有生命变成无生命，彻底将其抹杀，并且，像我们收割稻谷将其装化为自己的生命能量一样，他们也是将人的生命转化为自己的能量，极为残酷的一点在于，他们不仅收割死后的灵魂，也收割还活着的人。
灭却师，也是彻底消灭，但从正义角度来说，已经不再符合soul reaper的概念，他们消灭的只有虚而且并不吸收灵魂能量，更像是Anito annihilator。
