后来，报纸刊登了一系列小说。1984年，中央新闻电影制片厂制作了纪录片《少林海灯大师》，这部电影逐渐把海灯大师放到了祭坛上。20世纪80年代初，人们盲目相信电视。电视上播放的是绝对真实的，更不用说权威媒体中央电视台的纪录片了。两版电视连续剧《海灯传奇》(Legends of Sea Lights)让海灯巫师热得像食用油一样。英俊的赵长军扮演海灯巫师范无病。范无病这个名字听起来像是武术专家的名字。这和张无极和无尘一样。
被誉为武术“常胜将军”的赵长军不仅英俊潇洒，而且精通武术。他的表演给了海灯巫师很多加分。所以这也使得海灯巫师的传说更加传奇。在他生命的最后十年，海登大师达到了人生和事业的巅峰。1989年，海灯大师去世。
海灯法师这时候施施然走入人们的视野之中，得道高僧，武功高强，会二指禅，二个手指头就能支撑起整个身体，这些标签一贴，就是神迹啊。
