silent night 最初是做为一首圣诞颂歌而被翻译成“平安夜”的，这首颂歌最早于1818年圣诞平安夜（12月24日）演唱，之后做为一首经典“宗教颂歌”在西方国家广为流行，后来的中文翻译把这首歌翻译成“平安夜”只是一种对宗教节日的约定俗成而已，该词本身并没有“平安夜”的意思。
寂静的夜 可以说成 silent night 也可以说 night of silence
平安夜是Christmas Eve或者the Eve
寂静的夜用silent night是OK的
或者文学一点可以用quiescent night
