1.1温度条件
厚皮甜瓜所需最低温度为15℃，最适温度18℃-32℃，整个生育期所需≥15℃的有效积温1500℃以上。
1.2土壤条件
土层深厚，ph值7.0-8.0为宜，土壤含盐量在0.3%以下，质地为壤土或砂壤土。有机质含量在1%以上，实行5年以上轮作。
1.3灌溉条件
地势平坦，能引黄河水(或机井)灌溉、灌排配套。
1.4产地环境
选择生态条件良好，远离污染源，大气、水质、土壤的检测结果应符合ny/t391-2000的要求(绿色食品产地环境质量标准)。

要求纯度95%以上，净度98%以上，发芽率在90%以上，水分7%以下。

2.3.1先温汤浸种，用55℃温水浸种(二份开水兑一份凉水)不断搅拌15分钟后加凉水至室温。再用0.2%高锰酸钾溶液或多菌灵500倍液浸种半小时，然后用清水浸种4-6小时。
3.整地与施肥
3.1基肥：结合秋翻，亩施腐熟有机肥3000-5000公斤，耕后浇水保墒。
3.2整地
播前适时耙、耖、磙做到地块平整、疏松、无根茬，墒情好。
3.3种肥
播前集中深施磷酸二铵20公斤/亩、尿素5公斤/亩、硫酸钾型复合肥10公斤，混合一次深施。或集中深施甜瓜专用肥50公斤/亩。
3.4施肥方法及土壤消毒
按行距3米划线，用三腿耧，中腿距线两侧40厘米处，播入种肥和毒土。种肥放入两边腿，毒土放入中腿。毒土配制每亩用50%多菌灵或敌克松0.2-0.3公斤与15公斤过筛细土混合均匀。
4播种
4.1开沟作畦
采用开沟高畦覆膜栽培方式，以线为中用犁或人工开沟。沟开口宽50厘米，底宽30厘米，深25-30厘米，做到沟底平直、沟棱、沟坡整齐一致。
4.2覆膜方法
开沟后在沟边用70厘米地膜一边各覆一膜，也可用140厘米地膜连沟一起覆，边开沟边覆膜，膜要拉紧、压严、防止失墒。

4.3.1甜瓜播种时间
露地覆膜播种应掌握在10厘米深处，地温稳定通过15℃时，出苗期应在晚霜结束为准。早熟栽培播种期应在4月15-20日，中晚熟栽培播期从5月初可持续到6月初。
4.4种植密度
4.4.1小果型品种按中至中行距300厘米，小行70-80厘米，大行220-230厘米，株距50厘米，亩留苗890株。
4.4.2大果型中晚熟品种行距300厘米，株距55厘米，亩留苗800株。
4.5播种方法
种子应播在距沟棱10-15厘米处两肥带中间，早熟栽培应在膜下做一个10厘米的播种穴将种子播在穴底，然后覆1.5厘米厚的细土，中晚熟播种，播深不超过3厘米，开穴点播三角留苗，每播2粒。
