“孩子从小学一年级就可以开始练字，但一定要掌握正确的书写方法，如没有正确的方法不如不练。”北大附小河南分校语文老师、河南书法协会会员黄孝喜说。
郑州总校校长汪芳也表示，“练字没有年龄限制，从孩子学写字开始就可以练，只不过各阶段的重点不同，小学一至三年级的学生，可以从基础练起。”
初学者一定要先掌握规范的握笔姿势，再开始练字。写字时要保持头正、肩平、腰直，并做到“三个一”：胸离桌子一拳，眼离书本一肘，手离笔尖一指。
正确的握笔方法，是三指握笔法。笔杆放在拇指、中指和食指中间，食指在前，拇指在侧后，食指距笔尖3cm，笔杆与直面呈60度斜角， 做到“指实掌虚”，手指握笔要实，掌心要空，如空心拳，这样书写起来才能灵活运笔。
二、最好选带笔画和偏旁的字帖
“小孩子练习的字体叫规范字，接近宋楷，不是书法。”黄孝喜说，规范字字帖现在有很多，可以根据孩子情况选择。
在他看来，刚开始练字有技巧，并不是简单地照字帖临摹，概括起来有四个关键词，即：米字格、读懂帖、速度慢、写到位。
“一、二年级练的，多是基本笔画，三、四年级就是字的间架结构，比如左右结构、上下结构等。”中原区伏牛路四小老师张美兰说，小学阶段练字，基本的笔画和偏旁结构都要练，选字帖建议最好选上面有基本笔画和偏旁结构介绍的。
她建议，练字最好每天坚持20分钟左右，这样效果会好些。
