Joe - Metaphor
oh baby ah
there's a chill in this room
and it's coming from you
i feel like a stranger, i need an answer
tell me what you're going through
i saw you cry the other night
you turned your back, turned out the light
how can i help you if you never tell me
exactly what you're going through
she said lately you ain't been spending time
lately i ain't been on your mind
baby you don't even say i love you anymore
everything i do, i do for you
every breath i take, i breathe for two
every word i say
my whole life through
it's just a metaphor for i love you
if i set a boat without the sea
or your wedding day but without me
everything i own and all i'll be
it's just a metaphor for i love you
and expressing my feelings i may not be the best
but that doesn't mean that i love you any less
cos all i do is think of you
though i may not even notice when you wear a new dress
i always treat you with love and respect
see it don't take them things for me to be impressed
cos you're my boo
she said lately you ain't been spending time
lately i ain't been on your mind
baby you don't even say i love you anymore
but i do babe..
everything i do, i do for you
every breath i take, i breathe for two
every word i say
my whole life through
it's just a metaphor for i love you
if i set a boat without the sea
or your wedding day but without me
everything i own and all i'll be
it's just a metaphor for i love you
now i know, a women needs attention
(give it to her, give it to her)
and i know sometimes you need to mention
(she's sexy, so sexy)
and i know you gotta make her feel
she's the most beautiful girl in the world
everything i do, i do for you
every breath i take, i breathe for two
every word i say
my whole life through
it's just a metaphor for i love you
if i set a boat without the sea
or your wedding day but without me
everything i own and all i'll be
it's just a metaphor for i love you
everything i do, i do for you
every breath i take, i breathe for two
every word i say
my whole life through
it's just a metaphor for i love you
if i set a boat without the sea
or your wedding day but without me
everything i own and all i'll be
it's just a metaphor for i love you
everything i do, i do for you

Metaphor is a figure of speech. It refers to a comparison between unlike things without the use of "like" or "as". This comparison is done between two things that are basically different but have something in common in some significant way. It is used in reference to something that does not literally suggest a similarity. Metaphor is different from a simile or analogy because metaphor asserts that one thing is another thing and not just that they are like one another.

Thus metaphor indicates direct comparison between two or more seemingly unrelated objects. Metaphors are widely used in literature especially poetry. It is capable of expressing emotions and feelings with the usage of minimum words. There are different types of metaphors like extended metaphor, mixed metaphor, dead metaphor, conceptual metaphor etc. Metaphor is a Greek word that means transfer. It is a trope which means that it is the figurative use of an expression. A famous example of metaphor is "All the world's a stage" by Shakespeare. Some other instances are "he was wading in money", "life is an ice cream" etc.
