as well as意思是“.........“此外”。其遵循的是就远原则，即谓语动词要与该结构前面的主语保持一致。 除了as well as还有but，besides， as much as，along with,inadditionto等也要遵循就远原则。
as well as就远原则用法当as well as连接两个成分作主语时，其后位于的单复数形式通常要与前面一个主语保持一致。

就远原则
"名词 + 介词/介词词组 + 名词 "结构作主语时，谓语动词的单复数要与介词/介词短语前的名词（即离谓语动词比较远的那个主语）单复数保持一致，经常出现的此类介词/介词词组包括：
1、as well as；such as, like
2、rather than,；more than,；no less than
3、with,；along with,；together with,；combined with
4、but； except；besides,；in addition to,；apart /aside from.
当用作主语的成分后面跟有由but， except， besides， including， like， with， as well as， as much as， no less than， along with， in addition to， combined with， rather than， together with等引出的短语时。
谓语动词习惯上要与这些结构前面的主语保持一致即与比较远的那个主语保持一致，简称就远原则。
当as well as连接并列主语时（多数可理解为插入语，有无逗号均可），句中谓语动词的数应该和真正的主语（as well as前面的主语）保持一致。（就是“就远原则”）
as well as 的用法：
1、从翻译角度：
在传统用法中，as well as并不等同于and。我们知道，在not only A but also B的结构中，语义上侧重B，而在A as well as B 结构中，语义上侧重A，在英语用法中，A as well as B 可以用来表示A和B同等重要，即等同于and。
2、从词性角度：
as well as既可作连词，连接相同成分；又可做介词，后面多接doing。
