创作背景：

福斯特自己并没有去过佛罗里达州，但大多数人都因为这首歌而了解佛罗里达，甚至专门去过这条河。在确定歌曲的标题时，福斯特曾问过他哥哥的建议。第一个建议是密西西比州的雅曲河，但被福斯特拒绝了。第二个建议是南卡罗来纳州的豌豆河。福斯特说：“我永远不会选择那个。”然后他的兄弟建议他去斯瓦尼河，这次福斯特拍了拍他的手。所以，创造了这首歌。
