1.地质背景
比尼山（Mt Bini）斑岩型铜金钼矿床位于巴布亚新几内亚中部，南纬9°18′，东经147°35′，在首都莫尔斯比港东北50km处。比尼山矿床产在流经欧文斯坦利山脉的布朗-拉洛基-古尔迭-洼乌乐河系上游。欧文斯坦利山脉地势东高西低。东部山峦叠嶂，海拔达3445m，西部较为平缓，海拔在500m以下。比尼山区河流上游海拔接近1400m，中下游海拔约980m。
比尼山矿床的地质资源量为8500万t，平均品位为Cu 0.4%，Au 0.6×10-6。即含铜34万t，含金51t。此外，还含少量的Ag和Mo。
比尼山区最老的岩石为侏罗纪到晚始新世欧文斯坦利变质岩系的千枚岩和板岩。这些岩石受到低级绿片岩相变质，至少发生两期变形，形成一系列北西向紧闭褶皱。变形作用可能发生在中新世中期，即巴布亚超基性岩带与澳大利亚板块前缘碰撞并逆掩于其前缘之上时。
比尼山矿床产在宽15～20km的北北东向拉伸带中。拉伸带中的基底变质岩不整合于陆地火山岩之下，并被高位深成岩侵入。从陆地卫星图象的解释看，线性北北东向构造与拉伸带有关，并垂直于巴布亚超基性岩带的逆掩方向。
中新世奥维亚（Oveia）闪长岩是比尼山区最老的侵入岩。在侵入岩以南，以阿斯特罗莱布（Astrolabe）集块岩中的上新世基性到中性火山碎屑岩为主。从这套地层往北，是新发现的巴武（Bavu）钙碱性-火成岩，比尼山矿床就产在这套火成岩之中。在巴武火成岩以北，产有斑状多孔玄武岩和安山岩及少量更新世橄榄玄粗质埃福吉（Efogi）火山岩。喀麦隆山火山岩中的晚中新世到上新世基性到中性陆地火山岩、沉积岩和浅侵入岩与部分遭到侵蚀的层火山有关。托洛库马（Tolokuma）低硫化低温热液矿床就产在这套杂岩中。
欧文斯坦利变质岩系被各种钙碱性岩株和岩墙侵入。这些变质沉积岩主要是石英云母板岩和局部为碳质的带状千枚岩。比尼斑岩为富钾的钙碱性复合侵入岩株，从地形上看为环形，海拔1200m，高出周围的河床约140m。该岩株的大小约650×275m2，呈舌状，位于比尼山西北面。它是似岩墙的岩体，位于北东东向和北北东向线性体的交叉处。
矿床广泛发育有绢英岩化、绿泥石化、电气石化等蚀变。
早期形成的矿内穿插着许多网状石英细脉及含黄铁矿、黄铜矿、磁铁矿和辉钼矿的矿脉。金呈包体产在黄铜矿中。网状脉局部很发育，产在脆性千枚岩围岩中，往往与屡次发生的强烈绢英化蚀变有关。正长石+黑云母+石英±绿泥石±含黄铁矿和黄铜矿的碳酸盐细脉穿插于网脉状矿之间。粗粒硫化物与绿磐岩蚀变有关。少量黝铜矿也与绿磐岩化有关。电气石角砾岩除黄铁矿外不含其他矿石矿物。
含方铅矿和闪锌矿的细脉和浸染体产在紧邻比尼斑岩的变质沉积岩中。方铅矿-闪锌矿-碳酸盐-金矿脉出露于比尼山西南800m的奥菲（Ofi）河中及比尼山顶以下几百米处。这些矿脉与绿磐岩化蚀变有关。
低温热液矿叠覆于斑岩Cu-Au-Mo矿之上。矿脉宽可达1m；沿走向长1400m，山脊上有少量碧玉和蛋白石转石，表明这是低温热液系统的高位。在比尼岩株西边，有玉髓脉和网状脉出露，长20m，平均含金0.56×10-6。具有壳状和胶状条带及网格状结构的石英脉和锰方解石仅在钻孔中打到，银含量较高（8m，平均含银19×10-6）。辉锑矿与这些石英脉有关。
2.勘查与发现
在比尼山矿床的勘查和发现过程中，水系沉积物取样起到突出的作用。1992年5～6月，BHP公司在比尼山开展了水系沉积物取样计划。
取样点是根据已发表的1：10万地形图选择的，取样密度是每10km2一个取样点或沿河流每5km长1个点。在追踪调查期间加大了取样密度，2个/km2个样品。在第一轮调查期间动用了配备直升机的4个取样组。在4周踏勘期间内在4000km2的面积上共对483个取样点进行了取样。平均每小时（按直升飞机飞行时间）可对2～3个点进行取样。崎岖的地势限制了直升机着陆，因此追踪调查需徒步在3～5天完成。
在每个取样点上都采集了重砂（PC）样和总氰化物浸提（BCL）样，视情况还采集了转石样。对转石和露头的地质观测作记录。重砂样取自砾石堆，而总氰化物浸提样取自活动的沉积物。重砂样的取样点一般选在河流两岸和沉积物分选很差、砾石中的致密粘土含量很高的地方。总氰化物浸提样是从河槽中采取的粉砂-砂质沉积物。每个重砂样和总氰化物浸提样都需采取5kg经过湿筛的＜2 mm的沉积物。每个样品在制备和分析前装在结实的塑料袋中。
在地质填图期间，主要是在出露程度最好的和基岩风化程度较差的河道，按常规采集了岩屑和转石。在异常的流域盆地，沿山脊和山嘴采取了土壤样，间距25m或50m。在地表以下，每隔100 mm和300 mm采取1个500g的不经筛选的“B”层土壤样。各取样点上的土壤全是残积的。为了检验土壤地球化学异常，共挖掘了1300m的探槽。根据出露的基岩的刻槽取样和地质填图圈定了钻探目标。
按第一期钻探计划共打了3个金刚石钻孔，总进尺1007m。2个钻孔的目标是钻探土壤中Au和Cu值最高的地带。第3个钻孔的目标是钻探与在探槽中暴露的石英网脉有关的、有地表显示的金矿。按第二期钻探计划共打了4个金刚石钻孔（总进尺1413.7m），进一步检验矿床的品位和沿走向延伸情况。
所有的样品都是在商业实验室分析的。重砂样全是用火试金法分析的，只是为了化验金。将总氰化物浸提样在炉中烘干，保留100g小于2 mm的物质作分别分析。将这些物质粉碎，用王水-过氯酸煮解后用原子吸收光谱法（AAS）分析Cu、Pb、Zn、Ag和Mo。其余的总氰化物浸提样不必再制备，用氰化物反复浸析24小时后再用原子吸收光谱分析Au、Cu和Ag。
将土壤样在炉中烘干，粉碎（不必先过细筛），用王水-过氯酸煮解后，用火试金法分析Au，用原子吸收光谱法分析Cu、Pb、Zn、Ag、Mo和As。将岩石样和刻槽样在炉中烘干、压碎、粉碎、等分。这些样品的分析方法与土壤样相同。如果观测到或怀疑有辉锑矿存在，也可以用原子吸收光谱法分析Sb。
根据区域河流沉积物的分析结果确定了面积约100km2的异常区（其中有以前未发现的比尼斑岩和几个小的矿化中心）。重砂样中的Au（图8-19）显示出重要异常（＞30×10-6）的最好群集，矿化地段下游（2km）样品中的Au达157×10-6。总氰化物浸提样中的Cu（＞400×10-9）、＜2mm粒级的酸煮解Cu（＞60×10-6）和Pb（＞80×10-6）清楚地表明，根据区域工作结果可以确定有无矿存在。Pb形成很好的分散流，从矿床向下游延伸9km。总氰化物浸提样中的Cu在奥菲河下游未形成明显的分散流，但在比尼斑岩周围的一级河流沉积物中的含量升高。Ag的分布情况与Cu相似，但不如Cu明显。

根据区域河流沉积物的分析结果还确定了其他几个异常区。在图8-20所示的一个地区的西北部出现的重砂样中的金异常与绿磐岩化的上新世安山岩中的几条孤立的石英脉中的少量金有关。在该区更向西北的一大片地区内，有很多＜2mm粒级的酸煮解铜异常。这些铜异常与中性喀麦隆山火山岩有关。该区的水系形式表明它是残余层火山的水系。
在区域工作期间在矿化地段下游2km处采集的低温热液石英脉的含黄铁矿漂砾中的Au、Ag、Cu和Pb值都极高；Au 20.7×10-6，Ag 463×10-6，Cu 0.14%，Pb 0.6%。这个结果对开展进一步的追踪调查极为重要。比尼山矿床的发现与奥菲河矿床的金矿的发现相似：在奥菲河矿床，低温热液转石也含很高的Au、Ag、Cu和Pb。
跟踪调查取样结果发现，落差达150m的瀑布下游的高度异常的重砂样中的金，与瀑布上游的高度异常的氰化物浸提样中的金有明显区别。重砂样中的金反映的是粗粒金，与出露于瀑布顶部的低温热液石英脉中的黄铁矿有关。这种类型的金矿在瀑布以上是没有的，因为瀑布反映的是低温热液系统的地形上的高位。所以瀑布以上的含量相对高的氰化物浸提金反映的是斑岩型铜金矿。
斑岩型铜钼矿最初是根据对河道新鲜露头取样识别出来的。取样结果显示，露头断断续续地长达870m，其中有242m含Cu 0.19%，含Au 0.64×10-6，有10m平均含Cu 0.43%，含Au 0.8×10-6，有52m平均含Cu 0.27%，含Au 0.58×10-6。这些地段的Cu、Au品位与钻探期间打到的深成矿品位相似，说明当地表生富集程度很低。石英脉的密度和有磁铁矿存在是铜和金矿的有用标志。
采自山脊和山嘴的土壤样，圈出了Au、Cu、Mo和Pb地球化学异常。根据品位＞0.2×10-6的Au圈出了一个面积为2000×200m2的不连续矿带。Cu（＞150×10-6）和Mo（＞18×10-6）的分布大体一致，据之圈出了一个面积为650×350m2的矿带。根据土壤中类似的Au、Cu和Mo值还圈出了奥菲河矿床。比尼斑岩总体上也是根据Cu和Mo值圈定的。根据大于700×10-6的Cu圈出的中心区，与面积为500×150m2的一个地区的群集（0.2～0.5）×10-6的金值吻合。这种分带现象大体上反映了与P1期比尼斑岩有关的矿化的露头模式，与原生的0.3%Cu等值线近乎一致（图8-20）。铜的活动性高，品位易变，在新鲜岩石之上的土壤中可减少3/4。局部地方，土壤中的Cu值反映下伏的原生Cu品位，土壤中最高的Cu值达到3320×10-6。

土壤中的金品位一般反映的是与斑岩型铜矿化有关的深成金品位。土壤中金的最高值已记录到的为1.76×10-6。低温热液矿床上面的土壤中的金至少减少1/2～2/3。土壤中的Au值为0.4×10-6，代表下伏的原生金品位平均在1×10-6以上。低温热液石英脉之上的金品位减少得比较多，可能是因为有大量的黄铁矿已被风化淋滤掉。
Mo的减少情况不尽相同。在比尼山顶，地表土壤中的Mo值＜36×10-6，代表在被淋滤的岩石中有一个Mo值＞100×10-6的矿带。采自接近河道的山脊较低处的土壤样，其中的Mo值代表原生Mo值为150×10-6。
土壤异常槽探查出3个含矿较高的矿段：有110m平均含Au 1.25×10-6，含Cu 0.1%，98m平均含Au 0.62×10-6，含Cu 0.19%，60m平均含Au 0.79×10-6，含Cu 0.54%。出露的基岩大部分受到中等程度的风化而变为腐岩。低温热液石英脉的槽探给出很高的数值，有14m平均含Au 1.17×10-6，含Pb 0.22%，4m平均含Au 2.52×10-6。根据探槽揭示的地质情况，查明了异常的土壤值以及与斑岩有关的网状石英脉和低温热液型矿脉之间的关系。从异常土壤值往下没发现明显的“蠕变”。这对确定钻孔位置极为重要。
对土壤和探槽中Au（±Cu或Mo）含量最高的地段进行的钻探，打到了401m的矿段，平均含Cu 0.51%、含Au 0.56×10-6。图8-20表示的是比尼矿床的剖面图。该剖面图显示出不同的金属带。黄铁矿和黄铜矿比值从Cu ＞0.3%的矿带内的约1：2，增加到复合侵入体（其中黄铁矿含量可达5%～10%）外缘的约5：1。Cu＞0.3%的矿带大体上就是钾蚀变带的界限或钾蚀变又叠覆有绢英化蚀变的地方。局部地方，黄铜矿含量可达7%，而钾蚀变带中的含量一般为1%～3%。外带只含黄铁矿，其含量一般为1%～2%，局部可达10%～15%。侵入体与千枚岩的接触带有一宽100m的Mo外壳，Mo含量＞100×10-6。
3.小结
从比尼山矿床的发现过程来看，有直升机支持的区域水系沉积物地球化学取样，是评价大面积崎岖湿热山区的最有效而快速的方法。
比尼山矿床是利用水系沉积物、转石和土壤样及地球化学技术发现的。根据重砂、金和总氰化物浸提金异常能清楚地圈出有重大异常的区域规模的流域盆地。从总氰化物浸提样中分出100g物质作贱金属（特别是Pb）分析，是鉴定和划分金异常的极有效而便宜的方法。
伴生的低温热液石英-黄铁矿Au-Ag矿化能明显增强区域地球化学特征。追踪工作期间进行的高密度取样，根据低温热液型矿脉和斑岩型矿化之间重砂、金和总氰化物金之间的差异，可以圈出矿来。水系中的蚀变/矿化转石的识别和取样，对于区分区域水系沉积物化探结果至关重要。
山脊和山嘴土壤取样能够有效地确定Cu-Au-Mo矿带边缘的Pb-Zn金属分带。Cu是铜矿的最有用的指示元素。Au也是有用的指示元素，但一般分布较广。根据Mo可以大体上确定高品位Cu-Au矿带中的矿化系统。
