with the tree growing中with是介词，这是个介词短语，表伴随。介词with后面只能跟名词或名词短语所以是 growing，如果用grows就变成了一个句子 the tree grows，就不能做介词宾语了。
其实这句我认为最好是用原因状语如： As the tree is growing, we can... or Since the tree is growing, we can...
