什么是STEP?
STEP考试针对数学专业申请者，这些问题的风格和水平与本科阶段类似。
STEP考试Year 13结束时进行，可能会作为大学本科offer条件的一部分。
STEP主要被剑桥大学和华威大学采用，不过也有一些大学要求或鼓励学生参加STEP考试作为offer的一部分：

大家需要注意，大学专业入学要求每年可能有所不同，申请之前需要以具体确认为准。一个有趣的事实，大多数STEP考生是因为学校要求，也有一些同学单纯是为了“挑战自己”考STEP。
STEP考卷涉及哪些内容?
STEP考试有三套试卷，但是先别紧张，你可能不是三套卷子都需要考。。。大学会告诉你他们的offer让你考哪一个，如果自己不确定，可以直接联系学校招生处确认。每套试卷考试时间都是3个小时，包括11或12道题，不过不用全部都答完，实际你只需要回答6道题即可。也就是说，答题数量和具体哪个题目都没有限制，至少完成6道题就可以。考试划分如下：
STEP 1题目基于A-Level Mathematics，一共11道题，8道纯数，2道力学，1道概率。

考试中涉及的公式范围很广，包括：
Algebra andfunctions
Trigonometry
Exponentials and logarithms

大家要注意，现在STAP考试中已不再提供公式表了，这些公式都要记在心里了。像常规考试一样，STEP考试可以带尺子、量角器和圆规，但是不允许带计算器。
STEP考试如何打分?
每道题的分数都是20分，有时就算最终答案不正确，或者时间不够没有写出最终答案，也会给过程分。STEP考试成绩分成五个等级：
S – Outstanding
1 – Very Good
2 – Good
3 – Satisfactory
U – Unclassified大学会告知你，他们的录取需要什么等级的STEP成绩。
怎样参加 STEP考试?
STEP考试需要在获认可的考试中心参加，报名时需要提供以下信息：
· 名字
· 生日
· 性别
· UCAS number
· 大学、课程、课程编号
报名成功后会收到candidate number考生编号确认你的报名成功。
5月截止时间前，STEP国际生标准报名费是每套考卷 £92。之后报名需要将会额外增加£42的费用。

正如上文提到的，STEP考试难度基于A-level数学和AS与A-level进阶数学，意味着与你当前学习的topic类似。

6月即将到来，意味着STEP的考试也近了。
很多同学可能是第一次听说这个词，这里先解释一下STEP是什么。
STEP，全称为Sixth Term Examination Paper（“第六学期考试”），由Cambridge Assessment下属的Admissions Testing Service组织，是申请剑桥大学、华威大学等数学类本科专业时必须提供的数学附加考试。
还有很多学校的数学专业没有要求必须提供STEP的成绩，但会将此成绩作为加分项。
比如巴斯大学、布里斯托大学、帝国理工学院、拉夫堡大学、诺丁汉大学、南安普顿大学、伦敦大学国王学院和伦敦大学学院。
需要注意的是：虽然牛津大学采用MAT（Mathematics Admissions Test，即牛津大学考试中心与英国入学考试服务中心合作开设的数学水平考试）作为数学专业入学考试，而不是STEP，但也是鼓励申请人参加这类考试的。
当然，也有不少同学仅仅想挑战一下自己的数学能力而参加考试。
STEP考试分STEP 1、STEP 2、STEP 3。STEP1最简单，问题范围都在A-level大纲里。
STEP2的范围也在A-level数学内容里，但难度比STEP1高。STEP 3的难度最大，涉及到高等数学的内容。
每张试卷都分为3个部分，有13道题，包括Pure Mathematics（8道题），Mechanics（3道题）和 Probability and Statistics（2道题）。
每卷的考试时间是3个小时，学生只要选择6道题作答就可以啦，每道题20分，满分为120分。
STEP的成绩分为S, 1, 2, 3, U五档，S是优秀，1是很好，2是好，3是及格，U是不及格。
今年STEP的报名时间从2月29日开始，5月20日17：00结束，需要参加考试的同学抓紧最后时间报名。
6月14日是STEP 1的考试时间，6月16日为STEP 2的考试时间，6月23日是STEP3的考试时间。
8月18日公布成绩。
STEP考试基础费用为每卷48英镑，也就是在4月29日之前报名的费用。
在这个日期之后报名即为补报名，除了基础费用之外，还得另加每卷17英镑。
考试结果分析费用为每卷40英镑，申请复议的费用也为每卷40英镑。
