中国水墨画，一般简称“国画”或“水墨画”。水墨画的工具材料主要包括各种类型的毛笔、专用的墨、色及生宣纸。水墨画的特点
水墨画作画速度较快，讲究一气呵成，加之墨色在宣纸上有渗化意趣，适宜儿童在短时间内精力集中地抒发情感，符合儿童的身心特征。（一）工具与材料
1.笔。毛笔因用料不同而软硬不同。一般分为软毫、硬毫、兼毫。
软毫以羊毫为主，宜渲染；狼毫挺硬（如兰竹、石獾、山水、叶筋等），弹性较强，宜于勾线；兼毫则由软硬毫合制而成（如白云等），勾线染色皆宜。作画时，宁可选用大笔作小画而不用小笔作大画，以免下笔拘谨。
2.墨。质地较好的书画墨汁已普遍取代了研磨。墨汁使用方便，随用随取，如“一得阁”、“中华”等品牌都很好用。
3.纸。水墨画通常选用具渗化性能的生宣纸、皮纸、高丽纸等。
