How to treat cultural diversity
The culture differences between the East and West As we know ,there are so many differences between culture of the East and West that I can not list all of their different aspects.I will focus on the differences of diet custom and teaching system.For your better understanding ,I will set examples of China and America. It is no doubtthat it is a tradition to use chopsticks for Chinese.But people in America prefer to forks and knives.This different result is based on different food they like .Americans choose to eat beefsteak,bread,and salad,while Chinese people choose noodles ,pancakes and rice.What is more,the custom of drinking tea in China and drinking coffee in America are stand out particularly.However,there is a trend that the food in both countries has been mixture.For example,the coffee and bread have introduced to China.The famous KFC is very popular at children. The gap of teaching system between China and America is big.Chinese students always complain about their homework.Too much homework has limited the time to exercise and relax.They have to recite many things as to get a high mark.Homework comes the first to them. In my opinion,the study in America is more interesting .Teachers pay attentions to training students skills in thinking in realastic life not to emphasis on the importances of memories.In a addition,the rate of going to school ,the salary of teaching ,and the job of gruduates are quite different,too.I should say that Chima government should make great efforts to improve its teaching syetem.I am also expect to be one day ,the West give more cheersto our country.
We should not only recognize our national culture, but also respect other cultures, learn from each other, seek common ground while reserving differences, and respect the diversity of world cultures（既要认同本民族文化又要尊重其他文化，互相借鉴，求同存异，尊重世界文化多样性）To oppose secularism and national nihilism, we should not only warmly welcome the dissemination of excellent cultures from all over the world in China, but also take more initiative to promote Chinese culture to the world, be a friendly messenger for cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries, and enhance the international influence of Chinese culture.（反对封闭主义和民族虚无主义，既要热情地欢迎世界各国的优秀文化在中国传播，又要更加主动地推动中华文化走向世界，做中外文化交流的友好使者，增强中华文化的国际影响力。）Nowadays we can enjoy the same films,fashions,brands,advertisements and TV channels.The evident difference between countries is disappearing.To what extent do you think the disadvantages overweight the advantages of this?
Globalization creates conditions for widening international exchanges,strengthening mutual understanding between nations,expanding cultural,educational,and scientific cooperation between nations and countries,enjoying the cultural achievements of people around the world which encourages the process of modernization and the enrichment of national culture.
However,these conditions also create the possible danger of diminishing the national culture with a negative impact on the pre123vation of national identity.Through globalization and an open door policy,erroneous concepts and a lowering of ethical standards,a selfish and individualistic lifestyle and harmful cultural products can easily be imported into the country.At present,modern information technology which in the main is controlled by US is hourly and intensively disseminating US ideology,way of life,culture and films across the world.Even US food is promoted so that some people consider globalization as global Americanization.
During the process of economic globalization,inequality between developed and developing countries has been increasing and the gap between the rich and the poor has become wider,most of the result of globalization go to assist developed countries.Globalization does not pose equal interests and risks to all nations.With an overwhelming advantage compared to most of the developing countries in terms of finance and the level of science and technology,developed ca123alist countries control the situation of economic globalization.
For these reasons,globalization is a fierce and complicated struggle in both cultural and ideological fields.We take the initiative in international economic integration but also have to take the initiative in fighting to keep our distinct culture resisting pro-foreign and cross-bred phenomena,and overcoming the psychology of preferring money over ethical values.
