如果想自己练的话就从站桩开始吧，每门功法都是以桩功入门的，有的甚至将桩功贯通整个修炼过程。
具体方法为：
两脚同肩宽，脚尖向前，既不外撇，也不内勾，自然站立；两膝向前微曲，身体正直；胸微内含（笔者注；就是不要挺胸），小腹放松；两手抬至胸前，手指微张，相距约 30厘米，距胸约20—25厘米，环抱成椭圆形，高不过肩；头正直，两眼向前平视（闭目或半闭目亦可）；口似张似闭（笔者注；就是自然一点，不要用力闭住，也不要张开，舌顶上鄂可以，不顶也行）；以鼻自然呼吸。此桩为意拳的基本桩，既健身，又能够治疗多种慢性病，是武术（意拳气功）的基本功。久练此桩可以出现异常功能态、超常功能态。
心法要求；先要全身放松，在保持身体桩架不变形的基础上尽量的放松。
身体放松下来后，开始进行心法的运用，术语叫意念诱导，浑圆功的意念诱导非常复杂、细密，为了尽快入门我就省略了，有兴趣的可以看一些相关的文章。
简易心法叙述如下；
放松身体后，开始仔细体会身体的感觉，为了尽快找到感觉，就要从神经最灵敏的部位开始。
多数人手部是最灵敏的，所以常用的方法是从手部开始体会，也叫“立意”。
也有从脚上开始体会的，不过高血压患者不要用此法。
另外的就是传统的意守丹田法，但是因为丹田不如手敏感，所以上功不如从手开始快。
一般由手部开始体会，在几分钟之内就有感觉，最多几十分钟。
感觉一般最早出现在手指尖，会体会到手指尖的异常感觉，如；手指尖轻微的跳动感，针刺感，或疼痛感，有东西在里面运动的感觉等，每个人体会都是不一样的，有的体会多一点，有的少一点。这些都不要在意，属正常现象，取决于每个人的身体健康状况和神经系统的灵敏程度。
当出现感觉后就要集中精力去体会它的细微变化，如果是由手部开始体会，这种感觉就会顺着手指走遍全身，手指感觉明显强烈后自然会向身体躯干运行，由手指开始——手掌——手腕——小臂——肘——大臂——肩部——背部——腰部——胸部——腹部——臀部——大腿——膝部——小腿——到脚部结束。
如果由脚开始则逆行而上，如果感觉走到肩部不再往前发展，这主要是因为肩部病灶阻止功感发展，可以从脚上开始，我当年练功之初就是这种情况。
如果由脚上行的感觉停留在大腿部位不再上行，可以再从腰腹部开始体会，向上或向下发展。
还有一种方法是自由体会，随意体会身体各部位的感觉，也可以不要任何体会，就静静的站桩，保持姿势、放松身体，也可以达到一定的健身效果，当然比诱导练功效果要差些。
注意事项；练功中出现的任何感觉都属正常，不要疑神疑鬼，担心出偏，本功法完全不会出偏，而且是被有关部门推荐的健身功法。
练功中每个人都会出现感觉，但不是每个人都会出现气感，有些人片面的追求气感，这只是很多感觉之中的一种，没必要看的很重。其它的感觉也不可片面的追求，否则会产生执着，反而影响了功力的发展，切要谨记。
