　 摘要：语文是什么？语文是最重要的交际工具。语文还是什么？语文是“人学”，语文就是让人成为其人的一门学科。语文课教什么？基于能力和情感目标的教学设计——听、说、读、写、思的能力与品质的训练。语文课怎么教？把“听、说、读、写、思”作为我们的教学目标，把“听、说、读、写、思”作为我们的教学方法，把“听、说、读、写、思”作为我们的教学内容，把“听、说、读、写、思”作为我们的教学选择,把“听、说、读、写、思”作为我们的教学追求，把“听、说、读、写、思”作为我们的教学结果，把“听、说、读、写、思”作为我们的教学评价。语文课怎么样？“听、说、读、写、思”的效果好的语文课就是好课。营造氛围，研究策略，讲求方法，让学生在有限的时空中，愉快地学习，聪明地学习，轻松地学习，高效率地学习的语文课就是好课。让学生自己品尝到智力活动的快乐，能力的提高，学习成功后的愉悦，越学越想学语文的课就是好课。

　　当了十八年的语文教师，教了那么多节语文课；当了四年语文教研员，听了那么多节语文课；参加了许多新课改的研讨会，听了那么多关于语文课改的报告与讲座，心中一直萦绕着这样几个问题：语文到底是什么？语文课到底该教什么？语文课到底该怎样教？什么样的语文课才是好课？一直难以释怀，由此引发了我深深的思考。
　　一、语文是什么
　　《全日制义务教育语文课程标准》（实验稿）（以下简称《语文课程标准》）对语文课程性质与地位是这样阐述的：“语文是最重要的交际工具，是人类文化的重要组成部分。工具性与人文性的统一，是语文课程的基本特点。”“语文是最重要的交际工具”，也就是说人类的交际中有许多种工具，但语文是最重要的。“语文是人类文化的重要组成部分”，我的理解是语文是把人类文化中的被认为适合青少年学习的精华呈现出来，以利于人类文化的传承和青少年的成长。以此看来，语文教学就应该教会学生使用这个工具，语文教学应该传承人类文化促进青少年健康地成长。
　　“工具性与人文性的统一，是语文课程的基本特点。”是对语文课程性质的界定。对语文课程的工具性和人文性，在语文界争议比较多，笔者不争论，本文不谈它是不是符合语文学科的特点，既然语文课程标准已经对其定位，笔者按自己的理解进行阐释，本文谈的是在语文教学中如何体现与落实“工具性与人文性的统一”。
　　什么是“工具”？《现代汉语规范词典》对“工具”有两种解释“（1）从事生产劳动所使用的器具。包括手工操作的锄、斧、刀、锤等，也包括机器上使用的车刀、钻头、砂轮等。（2）比喻借以达到某种目的的事物或手段。”很显然，说“语文最重要的交际工具”是用其比喻义。作为工具性的特点，从生活的角度说，语文就是成为人们生活中不可缺少的一种工具，从传承和发展的角度说，语文就是传承和发展人类文化的工具。作为语文教学就是要教会青少年掌握“语文”这个交际工具，学会用“语文”这个工具传承和发展人类文化。作为具体的语文教学实践，语文的工具性应该体现在具备基本的“语文”知识——字、词、句、语法、修辞、逻辑等基本知识，掌握基本的“语文”能力——听、说、读、写等基本能力，通过“语文”把人类文化的精华与精神传承过来和发展下去。
　　什么是“人文”？ 《现代汉语规范词典》对“人文”解释为“指人类社会的各种文化现象。”我们知道，文化是人类、或者一个民族、一个人群共同具有的符号、价值观及其规范。符号是文化的基础，价值观是文化的核心，而规范，包括习惯规范、道德规范和法律规范则是文化主要内容。笔者在一则材料中了解到“一个人的精神世界有三大支柱：科学、艺术、人文。科学追求的是真，给人以理性，科学使人理智；艺术追求的是美，给人以感性，艺术让人富有激情；人文追求的是善，给人以悟性，人文中的信仰使人虔诚。”我想简单地推论出一个结论：不管是文化现象还是精神支柱，说明“人文性”是人区别于其他生物的属性，对人类特别重要，没有了人文性，人就可能不成为其人。因此，也就可以这样说，语文的“人文性”从某种意义上来说，就是在承担着“把一个人称为‘人’的”重要作用，语文教育就是要把一个“自然的人”教化为“人文的人”的教育。从语文实践的过程中也可以充分看到这一点。因此，语文教学的“人文性”具体体现也就是提高青少年的精神素养，也就是三维目标上所说“情感、态度与价值观。”也就是说语文教育的过程中要始终贯穿以认识教育、情感教育、审美教育、思想教育、人格教育等内容的人文教育。
　　但是，“工具性与人文性的统一，是语文课程的基本特点”这句话，它的关键所在是“统一”两个字。它们两者之间不是对立关系，是一个统一体。有人把它形象地比喻为一张皮的表里，一枚硬币的两面，而不是两张皮或两枚硬币，非常好。也就是说，语文学科的基本特点中的两个方面不能割裂，不能厚此薄彼。工具性与人文是表与里、皮与毛、血与肉的关系。工具性是“表”，人文性是“里”。工具性是载体，人文性是灵魂。工具性如“皮”，人文性如“毛”，“皮之不存，毛将焉附？”工具性如“肉”，人文性如“血”，有血有肉，才是鲜活的生命。工具性与人文性是与生俱来、相铺相成的。没了工具性，便没必要设语文课，人文性也无从谈起；没了人文性，语文课只有孤立的字、词、句、篇枯燥的、机械的语言训练，语文课便失去了生机、情感和韵味。工具性与人文性在语文教学实践中要一起呈现，有机结合。正如美学教育家朱光潜所说：“在文字上推敲，骨子里实际是在思想感情上‘推敲’。” “语言的实质就是情感思想的实质，语言的形式也就是情感思想的形式，情感思想和语言本是平行一致的，并无先后内外的关系。”因此，我认为，所有的语文老师的教学实践只要具备了“工具性与人文性的统一”就是真正的语文课，偏离了“工具性与人文性的统一”这一航标，就可能不是语文课。
　　语文的“工具性与人文性的统一”决定了“语文课程应该致力于学生语文素养的形成与发展。语文素养是学生学好其他课程的基础，也是学生全面发展和终身发展的基础。语文课程的多重功能和奠基作用，决定了它在九年义务教育阶段的重要地位。”《语文课程标准》里这段话充分说明了语文教学对一个人的全面发展和终身发展重要性。语文与其他学科相比，语文具有基础中的基础的地位；从一个人的发展历程上说，语文关涉到一个人怎么发展、成为一个什么样的人的的问题，正如文学评论家所说“文学即人学”一样，从某种程度上说“语文是‘人学’”，没有语文，人可能就不能称其为人。因此，你要问我语文是什么？我告诉你：语文是最重要的交际工具，语文就是让人成为其人的一门学科。
　　二、语文课教什么
　　语文课教什么？这是一个必须认真思考的问题，也是一个很重要的问题。就像一个人走路如果没有目的地，无论走多长时间走多远都是盲无目的、毫无效果的；就像一个人干一件事情不知道为什么干一样，无论怎样干都是白费力气的。不过，明白了语文课的性质和地位，在了解了语文课程的总目标，教什么的问题就明白了。《语文课程标准》“第二部分课程总目标”中关于总目标是分这样十条阐述的：
　　1．在语文学习过程中，培养爱国主义感情、社会主义道德品质，逐步形成积极的人生态度和正确的价值观，提高文化品位和审美情趣。
　　2．认识中华文化的丰厚博大，吸收民族文化智慧。关心当代文化生活，尊重多样文化，吸取人类优秀文化的营养。
　　3．培植热爱祖国语言文字的情感，养成语文学习的自信心和良好习惯，掌握最基本的语文学习方法。
　　4．在发展语言能力的同时，发展思维能力，激发想像力和创造潜能。逐步养成实事求是、崇尚真知的科学态度，初步掌握科学的思想方法。
　　5．能主动进行探究性学习，在实践中学习、运用语文。
　　6．学会汉语拼音。能说普通话。认识3500个左右常用汉字。能正确工整地书写汉字，并有一定的速度。
　　7．具有独立阅读的能力，注重情感体验，有较丰富的积累，形成良好的语感。学会运用多种阅读方法。能初步理解、鉴赏文学作品，受到高尚情操与趣味的熏陶，发展个性，丰富自己的精神世界。能借助工具书阅读浅易文言文。九年课外阅读总量应在400万字以上。
　　8．能具体明确、文从字顺地表述自己的意思。能根据日常生活需要，运用常见的表达方式写作。
　　9．具有日常口语交际的基本能力，在各种交际活动中，学会倾听、表达与交流，初步学会文明地进行人际沟通和社会交往，发展合作精神。
　　10．学会使用常用的语文工具书。初步具备搜集和处理信息的能力。
　　笔者抽取以上内容的关键词，对总目标有以下不太准确的归类：1、基本知识和基本技能类。有学会汉语拼音、会用语文工具书、能说普通话、能正确流畅地书写汉字、学会倾听、表达与交流等口语交际的基本能力、较强的阅读能力、流利地表述自己的意思的能力等。2、综合实践类能力。有搜集和处理信息能力、主动探究学习、实践中运用语文能力、发展思维能力、激发想象能力和创造能力等。3、素养和方法类。包括养成良好的学习习惯、掌握科学的学习方法和思想方法等。4、情感态度价值观类。包括培养爱国主义感情、社会主义道德品质，形成积极的人生态度和正确的价值观，提高文化品位和审美情趣、吸取民族文化智慧、吸收人类优秀文化的营养等。如果把以上内容再进一步浓缩的话，语文就是培养学生的“听、说、读、写、思”等能力、学习及思维的方法以及高尚的道德品质、积极的人生态度和正确的价值观。如果把“学习及思维的方法以及高尚的道德品质、积极的人生态度和正确的价值观”归入到“思”里面去，那么，语文就是培养学生的“听、说、读、写、思”五个方面的能力。
　　从以上的分析可以看出：语文学科的教学任务不是以传授知识为主，也不是培养本学科解题能力的，它是以语文素养为立意的学科，它旨在培养学生为适应社会和自身发展的一些基本能力。它是以培养和提升人的基本素养和品质的学科。如果我们的教师的教学设计与实施不是以此为目的的教学，那我们的教学就可能有问题。据我的调查，我们相当一部分语文老师的讲读课还是这样的套路：浏览课文，在每一自然段前标出序号，和学生一起，一问一答地画出段落层次，总结段落大意，归纳中心思想，分析写作特点等等。我不是说不能这样教，而是说这样设计的目的何在，为了达到一个什么样的效果而设计。同样的教学设计、一样的教学行为可能会因为目的和对象的不同而使效果大相径庭。如果是以疏通文章大意、讲解文章内容、分析语言特点等为目的，这就严重偏离语文学科的总目标，这样的语文课就可能不是语文课了。还是这样讲，如果是以培养和提升学生的语文基本素养和能力的，那就是一节语文课。
　　不管是小学一年级的语文课堂，还是九年级的语文课堂，语文的教学无非是“听、说、读、写”等形式进行的。让任何一位老师离开“听、说、读、写”去教语文课，想教的像语文课肯定是比较困难的。“听、说、读、写”是语文教学的基本内容和形式应该是没有多大异议的。我今天提出的语文课教什么也包括这四个方面，但是我要提出一个更为重要的内容——“思”，语文教学不能没有“思”，而且还应该以“思”为核心，围绕着“思”进行语文教学。这里的“思”内涵很丰富，可以理解为“思想”、“思维”、“思考”，也可以理解为“思绪”、“情思”等。“思”可以通向自我澄明和自由，可以通向公共知识与法度，“思”能让我们的语文教学目标——“工具性与人文性统一”得以实现。语文教学要用“思”去创造一个既丰富多彩又富于意义与价值的的语文生活。语文教学因为“思”的存在而灵动，语文教学因为“思”的凸显而柳暗花明。“听、说、读、写、思”是我们语文教学的核心内容，我们的语文教学因以培养“听、说、读、写、思”五大能力而成为真正的语文课堂。
