巫蛊之国应该指的是苗疆一带。汉武帝在位时期，发生的是巫蛊之祸，接下来聊聊巫蛊之祸。
巫蛊之祸出现的根本原因是汉武帝晚年多疑。像蛊虫这种东西，现代的小说《盗墓笔记》当中也有提及，而且人偶等等，在历朝历代都有提及。功效如何我不知道，毕竟是个门外汉，这里充不了专家。但是巫蛊这种事，只看当事人是否忌讳了。所以接下来，我们从汉武帝的角度来谈谈巫蛊之祸。
第一个方面，汉武帝晚年多疑。虽然英雄迟暮可惜，毕竟汉武帝年轻的时候种种举措是非常有效的，如果没有巫蛊之祸这一茬，汉武帝算是个明君。但是晚年他也会因为自己的衰老和能力渐渐衰退而有危机感，因此就格外多疑。
第二个方面，汉武帝需要为刘剧扫清障碍。汉武帝巫蛊之祸首先杀的是那些位高权重的大臣，包括卫氏的外戚，其实汉武帝不除掉他们，在刘据做了一国之君以后也是非常大的威胁。如果不是刘据起兵，而是选择相信父亲，或许卫子夫和刘据都不会死。
第三个方面，汉武帝最终目的是还是为了保护自己。其实汉武帝借巫蛊之祸也是在为刘据肃清障碍，但是刘据却带兵走了，再加上有人假传刘据的话，才把汉武帝逼得不得不向刘据和卫子夫治罪。
以上就是我对汉武帝为什么一世英名，晚年还会发生巫蛊之祸的原因。其实如果卫子夫和刘据当时没有妄动，或许可以享受汉武帝刘彻的胜利成果。也可能是卫子夫以死明志才唤醒了汉武帝，历史上的孰是孰非，本来就是我们后人的一己之见，哪里说得清对错呢。
汉武帝晚年比较昏庸，一直想长生不老，就有奸佞小人借机投其所好忽悠他。
个人认为主要是汉武帝个人的迷信所致，他可能是受到秦始皇求仙药的故事影响。也一直想研制出长生不老药。这就是为什么汉武帝晚年会被一些奸佞小人忽悠而朝纲大乱。

汉武帝在自己年轻的时候确确实实是一个有所作为的皇帝，这也是光武中兴的开始。
