1 周/号钟
“号钟”是周代的名琴。此琴音之宏亮，犹如钟声激荡，号角长鸣，令人震耳欲聋。传说古代杰出的琴家伯牙曾弹奏过“号钟”琴。后来“号钟”传到齐桓公的手中。齐桓公是齐国的贤明君主，通晓音律。当时，他收藏了许多名琴，但尤其珍爱这个“号钟”琴。他曾令部下敲起牛角，唱歌助乐，自己则奏“号钟”与之呼应。牛角声声，歌声凄切，“号钟”则奏出悲凉的旋律，使两旁的侍者个个感动得泪流满面。
2.春秋/绕梁
今人有“余音绕梁，三日不绝”之语。其语源于《列子》中的一个故事：周朝时，韩国著名女歌手韩娥去齐国，路过雍门时断了钱粮，无奈只得卖唱求食。她那凄婉的歌声在空中回旋，如孤雁长鸣。韩娥离去三天后，其歌声仍缠绕回荡在屋梁之间，令人难以忘怀。
琴以“绕梁”命名，足见此琴音色之特点，必然是余音不断。据说“绕梁”是一位叫华元的人献给楚庄王的礼物，其制作年代不详。楚庄王自从得到“绕梁”以后，整天弹琴作乐，陶醉在琴乐之中。
有一次，楚庄王竟然连续七天不上朝，把国家大事都抛在脑后。王妃樊姬异常焦虑，规劝楚庄王说：“君王，您过于沉沦在音乐中了！过去，夏桀酷爱‘妹喜’之瑟，而招致了杀身之祸；纣王误听靡靡之音，而失去了江山社稷。现在，君王如此喜爱‘绕梁’之琴，七日不临朝，难道也愿意丧失国家和性命吗？”楚庄王闻言陷入了沉思。他无法抗拒“绕梁”的诱惑，只得忍痛割爱，命人用铁如意去捶琴，琴身碎为数段。从此，万人羡慕的名琴“绕梁”绝响了。
3.汉/绿绮
“绿绮”是汉代著名文人司马相如弹奏的一张琴。司马相如原本家境贫寒，徒有四壁，但他的诗赋极有名气。梁王慕名请他作赋，相如写了一篇“如玉赋”相赠。此赋词藻瑰丽，气韵非凡。梁王极为高兴，就以自己收藏的“绿绮”琴回赠。“绿绮”是一张传世名琴，琴内有铭文曰“桐梓合精”，即桐木、锌木结合的精华。相如得“绿绮”，如获珍宝。他精湛的琴艺配上“绿绮”绝妙的音色，使“绿绮”琴名噪一时。后来，“绿绮”就成了古琴的别称。
一次，司马相如访友，豪富卓王孙慕名设宴款待。酒兴正浓时，众人说：“听说您‘绿绮’弹得极好，请操一曲，让我辈一饱耳福。”相如早就听说卓王孙的女儿文君，才华出众，精通琴艺，而且对他极为仰慕。司马相如就弹起琴歌《凤求凰》向她求爱。文君听琴后，理解了琴曲的含意，不由脸红耳热，心驰神往。她倾心相如的文才，为酬“知音之遇”，便夜奔相如住所，缔结良缘。从此，司马相如以琴追求文君，被传为千古佳话。
4.东汉/焦尾
“焦尾”是东汉著名文学家、音乐家蔡邕亲手制作的一张琴。蔡邕在“亡命江海、远迹吴会”时，曾于烈火中抢救出一段尚未烧完、声音异常的梧桐木。他依据木头的长短、形状，制成一张七弦琴，果然声音不凡。因琴尾尚留有焦痕，就取名为“焦尾”。“焦尾”以它悦耳的音色和特有的制法闻名四海。
汉末，蔡邕惨遭杀害后，“焦尾”琴仍完好地保存在皇家内库之中。三百多年后，齐明帝在位时，为了欣赏古琴高手王促雄的超人琴艺，特命人取出存放多年的“焦尾”琴，给王仲雄演奏。王仲雄连续弹奏了五日，并即兴创作了《懊恼曲》献给明帝。到了明朝，昆山人王逢年还收藏着蔡邕制造的“焦尾”琴。

长126cm 高10.8cm 肩宽22.1cm 尾宽17.2cm
连珠式琴，形饱满，黑漆面，具细密流水断。玉徽、玉轸、玉足、龙池圆形、凤沼长方形。琴底颈部刻「春雷」二字行草书填绿。龙池左右分刻隶书铭：「其声沈以雄，其韵和以冲」、「谁其识之出爨中」，钤印一，印文剥蚀。龙池下似曾存一大方印，但经漆补，隐晦不清。
「春雷」为唐代名琴的名称，制琴世家雷威所作。明代（清秘藏）记之曰：「春雷，宋时藏宣和殿百琴堂，称为第一。后归金章宗，为明昌御府第一。章宗殁，挟之以殉。凡十八年，复出人间，略无毫发动，复为诸琴之冠。天地间尤物也！」传世唐琴极珍罕，此琴虽然纳音、双足、岳山、琴尾等处曾经后人修补，但琴身造形饱满，有唐琴之「圆」；当代琴家试弹，称此琴音韵沈厚清越，兼得唐琴「松」、「透」之美。
此琴于民国时，曾经何冠五、汪景吾、张大千等名家收藏。
6.唐／九霄环佩
琴为伏羲式，杉木斩成，木质松黄。配以蚌徽。白玉制琴轸、雁足，刻工精美。岳山焦尾等均为紫檀制，工艺规整。琴身髹朱红色漆，鹿角灰胎，间以历代修补之墨黑、朱漆等。琴身通体以小蛇腹断纹为主，偶间小牛毛断纹。琴底之断纹隐起如虬，均起剑锋，突显比琴面浑古。究其原因，系此琴面仍可供按弹抚弄，若断纹起剑锋反碍事及易出杂音，故琴家每三数年便一小修，旨在磨挫其断纹之剑锋的原故。琴身颈腰之面底等均作唐琴独有之圆楞减薄处理。龙池为圆形，凤沼作细长之椭圆形，以漆作赔格。琴面以微隆起之势成纳音。龙池内有唐宫琴格式之寸许大字“至德丙申”隶书腹款。至德丙申为唐肃宗元年（公元756年），为中唐之始。琴背池上阴刻篆书“九霄环佩”，是为琴名；龙池下刻“清和”篆印，二印均为唐代原刻，尚有原填金漆痕迹。比照海内外公私藏家的唐琴，北京故宫博物院旧藏“大圣遗音”和北京琴家锡宝臣旧藏之“大圣遗音”，均有“至德丙申”款；辽宁省博物馆藏之“九霄环佩”、中央音乐学院藏之“太古遗音”、美国弗利尔美术馆藏之“枯木龙吟”亦均有“清和”篆文方印。另有“汾阳后裔郭京家藏”和“东坡苏轼珍赏”篆文印二方，篆刻时间略晚于唐代。此琴弦长112.5厘米，音质苍古，为唐琴中佼佼者。此琴原为上海文史馆馆员沈迈士先生旧藏，后转让吴金祥先生处藏，早年流失海外。
7.唐／大圣遗音
这架唐代大圣遗音琴为神农式，桐木斫，髹栗壳色漆罩以黑漆，朱漆修补，纯鹿角灰胎，发蛇腹间牛毛断纹。通长120厘米、肩宽20.5厘米、尾宽13.4厘米、厚5厘米、底厚1厘米。琴背作圆形龙池、径7.6厘米，扁圆凤沼为12厘米长，1.2米宽，龙池上刻寸许行草“大圣遗音”四字，池下方刻二寸许大方印一篆“包含”二字，池之两旁刻隶书铭文四句“巨壑迎秋，寒江印月。万籁悠悠，孤桐飒裂”十六字，俱系旧刻填以金漆。腹内纳音微隆起，其两侧有朱漆隶书款“至德丙申”四字。琴音响亮松透饶有古韵，造型浑厚优美，漆色璀璨古穆，断纹隐起如虬，铭刻精整生动，金徽玉轸、富丽堂皇，非凡琴所能企及。
8.唐／独幽
独幽琴 晚唐 长120.5cm 肩宽20cm 尾宽14cm 湖南省博物馆藏凤嗉式。琴面黑红相间漆，梅花断纹与蛇腹断纹交织，背面牛毛断纹。龙池上方刻“独幽”，池内有“太和丁未”四字（即唐文宗元年，公元827年）。琴尾有李静题款。此琴于明末清初为王船山所用，民国时由已故湖南琴家李静珍藏。
9.唐／太古遗音
太古遗音琴 晚唐 长122cm 额宽22cm 尾宽14cm 中央音乐学院藏师旷式。原黑漆，大流水断纹。背面龙池上方刻行书“太古遗音”，池下刻篆书“清和”印，左侧刻“吴景略重修甲子中秋”。古琴音乐主要受儒家中正和平、温柔敦厚、「德音之谓乐」和道家顺应自然、大音希声、清微淡远等思想的影响。曾由已故山东琴家詹澄秋珍藏。
10.明/奔雷
奔雷琴 明 长127.6cm 肩宽19cm 尾宽15.6cm 故宫博物院藏仲尼式。黑漆，小蛇腹断纹。背面龙池上方刻篆书“奔雷”，两侧刻有藏者题款：“南北东西几度游，名琴能遇不能求。奔雷无意欣相遇，宿愿多年始得酬”。“久经风鹤不堪嗟，一抚奔雷兴倍赊。三十年来成伴侣，怡情养性不离他”。曾由天津琴家宋兆芙珍藏。现收藏于故宫博物院。

古代名琴，它的断纹很像蛇腹下的花纹。
宋·何远《春渚纪闻·古声遗制》：“近世百器惟新，惟琴器略无华饰，以最古蛇腹文为奇。”
2>断纹
古代名琴。琴以古旧为佳，琴身崩裂成纹则证明年代久远，故名断纹。
宋·赵希鹄《洞天清录集·古琴辨》：“古琴以断纹为证，盖琴不历五百岁不断，愈久则断愈多……凡漆器无断纹，而琴独有者，盖他器用布漆，琴则不用；他器安闲，而琴日夜为弦所激。”
3>峄阳
古代名琴，以峄山（在今山东邹城东南）南坡（山之南面为阳）所产桐木制成，故名。
《格古要论》：“古琴有阴阳材。盖桐木面日者为阳，背日者为阴……阳材琴旦浊而暮清，晴浊而雨清；阴材琴旦清而暮浊，晴清而雨浊，此可验也。”
《尚书·禹贡》：“峄山孤桐”，孔安国传：“孤，特也。峄山之阳，特生孤桐，中琴瑟。”后以“峄阳”为琴之别称。
4>冰弦
古代名琴，以冰蚕丝为琴弦。
王嘉《拾遗记》卷十“员峤山”云：“员峤山，一名环邱山……有木，名猗桑，煎椹以为蜜。有冰蚕，长七寸，黑色，有角有鳞，以霜雪覆之，然后作茧，长一尺，其色五彩，织为文锦，入水不濡，以之投火，经宿不燎。”
宋·乐史《杨太真外传》卷上载，寺人白季贞使蜀还，献给杨妃琵琶，“弦乃末诃弥罗国永泰元年所贡者，渌冰蚕丝也，光莹如贯珠瑟瑟。”
一说冰弦为一种素质丝弦，明·项元汴《蕉窗九录·琴弦》：“今只用白色柘丝为上，秋蚕次之。弦取冰者，以素质有天然之妙，若朱弦则微色新滞稍浊，而失其本真也。”
中国古代十大名曲
