钟馗画扎根于安徽省汉族民间，寄情于民俗，蕴雅于拙，寓美于丑，“土而不陋，俗不伤雅”，具有较高的艺术价值、文化价值和历史价值，在国内外都有很大影响。自唐代起，灵璧人始画钟馗。经过1000多年的风雨浸润，至2003年，灵璧被文化部授予“中国民间艺术（钟馗画)之乡”称号。灵璧画也被称为画中“活化石”。公元1915年，画家翟光远在巴拿马国际博览会中荣膺金奖（世博会前身）。
2006年著名画家孙淮滨先生被授予安徽省非物质文化遗产项目（钟馗画）代表性传承人”称号。在全国“第四届民间艺术博览会中国创造·民间文化品牌评选活动”中，又授予孙淮滨“中国创造·民间文化品牌艺术家”称号。他的钟馗画作品被评为“中国创造·民间文化品牌珍贵艺术品”。2009年10月，孙淮滨先生钟馗图被评为“新中国国礼”，他也获得“国礼艺术大师”称号。
陈光林,1956年生灵璧,安徽省人民政府参事，安徽省政协委员，中国美术家协会会员。中国艺术研究院高级访问学者，中国华侨文艺家协会副会长，中国华侨画院副院长，北京炎黄钟馗画院院长,中国琉璃厂画院执行院长,宿州市政协常委，宿州市政协驻会副秘书长，宿州市文联副主席,宿州市政协书画院副院长，宿州市美协副主席,灵璧县钟馗画院院长,灵璧县美协名誉主席,曾任灵璧县政协第七、八届副主席，县文联主席。全国首届钟馗画大赛组委会、评委会常务副主任。
