1�思想性
党的教育方针和“三个面向”是教学改革的依据，于漪牢牢地把握着这一依据。她的全部教学改革活动，贯穿着一条鲜明的红线，那就是“教文育人”。于漪所上的语文课，充分地体现着“文道统一”的精神，在听说读写训练中，结合着思想教育，恰似春风化雨，渗入学生的心灵深处，真可谓教养与教育的和谐统一。于漪语文教学的思想性是很强、很突出的。
2�重学性
重教轻学，是传统教学的积弊。于漪主张，教师应把从教出发的立足点转换到从学出发的立足点上来，重视对学法的研究，使教学为学生的学习服务。为此，教师必须“目中有人”，要研究当代学生的新情况、新特点，从学生的实际出发进行教学。
3�情趣性
于漪主张，讲课要有情趣。教学有了情趣，就能吸引学生产生一种孜孜石乞石乞、锲而不舍的学习愿望，才能产生实效，而效果又会促使兴趣的巩固和发展。为此，教学就须在“得”字上下功夫，学生学有所得，才能对语文学习产生情感和趣味。
4�智能性
于漪站在培养开拓未来社会主义现代化建设者的高度，十分重视学生的智力开发与能力培养。只要全面地阅读于漪的教学论文，不难发现于漪全部语文教学活动中，贯穿着一条重要线索，那就是：运用启发式进行教学，培养学生的思维能力，尽力开发他们的智力。如何开发学生的智力，于漪曾写过不少专论，诸如“谈语言和思维的训练”“谈观察训练”“谈想象力与创造力的培养”“谈把握记忆的支撑点”等等。这些论述启示我们：语文教学要通过启发式教学，让学生在主动、活泼的学习中，逐渐成长为聪明有为的人才。
在语文能力的培养上，于漪主张读写听说全面训练。她深感“重读写轻听说”教学的滞后性，从适应信息化社会的需要角度考虑，她在自己的教学实践中，是十分重视听力与说话训练的。
纵观于漪的读、写、听、说实践，可以从中寻找出另一条重要线索，那就是：在教师主导下，让学生在主动、自觉的学习活动中，逐步地培养起自学能力。
5�文学性
人的生活离不开文学。文学修养是一个合格的公民应该具有的文化素质。于漪的语文教学，带有浓厚的文学色彩。这只要听听她的学生在发言时能熟练地运用古诗词，能恰到好处地使用成语表达自己的意见，能在课堂上一首又一首地背诵古代诗词，也就可以知道于漪平时是怎样成功地向学生进行文学教育了。听于漪讲课，读于漪文章，文学味浓是一个突出的感受。平时她的教学语言也充满了优美的文学词语，感染力很强，这对学生的影响是潜移默化的。把学生带入文学的情趣之中，可以提高语文学习的主动性与积极性，语文教学的效率也就必然随之提高。
6�整体性
于漪认为，语文教学是个系统工程。它首先应具有科学的序列，然后才能有序有效地传授知识、进行训练。教师对每个学期教学工作的安排，既要全局在胸，又要明确每堂课、每个单元、每个阶段的教学目标与教学任务。
在实际教学中，她引导学生遵循文道统一的规律，从整体上去理解、把握课文，使学生不仅理解、把握课文写什么、怎样写，而且理会为什么这样写。学生从课堂教学中不仅学到知识、技能，而且受到思想教育。
于漪精通于教学艺术，对于一堂课怎么开头，选择什么作突破口以带起全局，怎样展开教学进程，怎样收尾，都有独创的整体设计。听她的课，所感受到的是：教学环环紧扣，节奏鲜明，抑扬顿挫，起承转合，有张有弛，波澜起伏，引人入胜。而且由于她的整个教学能“和学生的心弦对准音调”，所以能取得最佳的教学效果。
怎样上好一堂课，于漪的主要经验是：
第一，“挖掘文章内在的思想性，揭示其寓含的深意”；
第二，“重锤敲打关键词句，使它们溅出耀眼的火花”；
第三，“变换提问的角度，选择最佳入口处，激发学生的感情”；
