At seventy, I could follow the dictates of my own heart for what Idesired no longer overstepped the boundaries of right.”
3、子曰：“贤哉回也！一箪食，一瓢饮，在陋巷，人不堪其忧，回也不改其乐。贤哉回也！”
The Master said, incomparable indeed was Hui! A handful of rice to eat, a gourdful of water to drink, living in a mean street. Others would have found it unendurably depressing, but to Hui’s cheerfulness it made no difference at all.Incomparable indeed was Hui!
On duty of a good child
4、孟懿子问孝。子曰：无违。
Confucius answered: “Don’t fail in what is required of you.”
5、孟武伯问孝。子曰：父母唯其疾之忧。
Confucius answered: “Think how anxious your parents are when you are sick, and you will know your duty towards them.”
6、子游问孝。子曰：今之孝者，是谓能养，至于犬马，皆有能养；不敬，何以别乎？
Confucius answered: “The duty of a good son nowadays only means to be able to support his parents. But you can also keep your dogs and horses alive. If there is no feeling of love and respect, where is the difference? ”
7、子夏问孝。子曰：色难；有事，弟子服其劳；有酒食，先生馔，曾是以为孝乎？
Confucius answered: “The difficulty is with the expression of your look. That merely when anything is to be done, the young people do it, and when there is food and wine, the old people are allowed to enjoy it, —do you think that’s the whole duty of a good son? ”

8、“益者三友，损者三友。
There are three kinds of friendship which are beneficial and three kinds are injurious.
9、友直、友谅、友多闻，益矣；
Friendship with upright men, with faithful men and with men of much information. Such friendships are beneficial.

Friendship with plausible men, with men of insinuating manners and with glib-tongued men. Such friendships are injurious.
