咱表示中国的英语教学很多时候是“语言学”教育，上面两位在“语言学”与“语法”上是没有问题的，但是其实并没有说到some和any的本质——咱们说some和any的本质差异是来自于两词的词义，前者表示的是“有些”、“一些”，而后者的精确含义是“任意”、“任何”。
就以Could you please tell me something/anything about that man ?为例：
当用something的时候，表示的意思是：你能告诉我一些那个男人的事情么？
当用anything的时候，表示的意思是：（任何事情都可以，）你能告诉我那个男人的事么？
以上，语义上虽然大致相同，但实际有着微妙的差异，也因此some和any在本质上并没有所谓“哪个用在否定句”的情况，两者都能用于肯定也都能用于否定，关键在于表达的语意。
而如果为了应付考试的话，那么就记着“否定用any，口语可以以some代替”便好。
二、关于not only but also
1、把We should eat not only fruit but also vegetables .写作We should not only eat fruit but also eat vegetables .并无问题，只是显得略啰嗦。
2、We should not only eat healthy food ,but also eat regularly .这里的eat则必须放在后面，说到底还是语意的问题。本句的句意：我们不但要吃健康食品，也要规律饮食。你看，从中文角度也不能提出“吃”这个词不是么？
而从语法上说，上句中not only与but also后面跟从的都是eat的宾语，因此把eat提出来没有问题，放进去也没有问题。而下句则不然，eat 后面一个连接的是其宾语healthy food，另一个则是状语regularly，两者结构不同，自然不能把eat提出来。
诶，对于底下网址复制的某位还有说不能把eat放到not only 后面的那位我表示。。不要听他们的！
问题1：any这个词是不能用在任何的疑问句当中，除非是用来形容非实物（就是看不到听不到摸不到的东西）的时候是可以用在问句里的
举例： Do you have any idea how little I get paid？
idea 不是实物，但是books 是所以不能用any只能用some。
还有补充说明any，some的规矩和anything，something的规矩是不一样的，
所以那句Could you please tell me something about that man? 这里的something是可以换成anything的只要把please去掉，例如：Could you tell me anything about that man? (严格的语法意思上这句话和原句是一样的，但是以口头的语境来讲这句改了的问句会比较生硬和刻薄）。
Can you give me some books 这里是不能用any的。我把any，some，anything，something，的规则都帮你打出来吧。
any：用在否定句，只有在形容非实物的情况下用在疑问句。
some：用在疑问句，不能用在否定句
anything：能用在疑问句和否定句
something：用在疑问句，不能用在否定句
问题2： not only， but also。这是一个介词短语（prepositional phrase），按照你那样We should not only eat fruit but also eat vegetables 是在语法意义上完全正确的，不过就是比原句啰嗦了一点，但是是正确的。
这是为什么：不知道你有没有听说过 平行结构 （parallel structure） 这个语法词，原句在not only 后面的是跟friut，but also 后面跟的是vegetables，因为在介词短语后面跟的都是同一类型的名词，所以是平行的。
而你更改过的句子not only 后面跟的是eat，but also 后面跟的也是eat，介词短语后面跟的都是一样的动词，也是平行的，所以在语法意义上是正确的。
书上说的那个句子也是在介词短语后面都跟了eat所以也是平行结构也是正确的。
