根据前述嵩阳期、中岳期变质变形的论述可知，登封岩群岩石受到三期变质变形改造。在岩石中虽未出现Al2SiO5变体，但出现了十字石、铁铝榴石，结合其他矿物成分特征可以认为峰期变质条件应为蓝晶石稳定区。据矿物对温压计算，第一期变质作用（M1）的变质条件，早期为0.75GPa,550～570℃，与蓝晶石稳定区条件基本一致，晚期为0.40GPa,510℃，发生于2500～2600Ma（2.5～2.6Ga），伴随嵩阳运动第一幕（D1）的变形过程。根据石榴子石变斑晶的成分变化其生成过程属温度升高压力降低的环境。第二期变质作用（M1）重结晶发生在嵩阳运动第二幕（D2）剪切变形之后，大体在2200Ma（2.2Ga）之后，变质条件约为0.4GPa,470℃。第三期变质作用（M3）的变质结晶发生在中岳运动第一幕（D3）变形之后，大体在1800Ma（1.9～1.8Ga）左右，变质条件为0.4GPa,260～300℃。由此建立登封岩群的变质变形P-T-t轨迹如图12-23所示。从图中变质变形关系可以看出，除峰期变质为同变形过程外，第二期和第三期的变质过程均为变形之后的变质结晶作用，具有变形和变质过程间歇式的特点。
图12-23登封岩群变质变形P-T-t轨迹的地球动力学解释可作如下简要描述，该轨迹可分为两段，一段以降压为主冷却极缓慢，另一段则为近等压的冷却，整个过程均发生于蓝晶石稳定区。整体为降压后的冷却。该轨迹为顺时针型，从而表明它与陆壳会聚碰撞环境密切相关。

嵩阳运动第一幕的碰撞作用使嵩山地区地壳增厚，引起增温增压，岩石发生前进变质作用，变质达角闪岩相，稍后的构造弛豫产生陆块隆升，地壳物质大量熔融，形成了新太古代末期规模巨大的岩浆岩带。继而地壳由于均衡补偿作用而迅速隆升，近于恒温降压。又由于热弛豫的结果，在隆升初期，仍保持缓慢升温状态。之后压力迅速减小而温度无明显降低，表明隆升速率较快。从降压0.35GPa来计算，地壳抬升近11.6km。第二期变质作用为伴随嵩阳运动第二幕的剪切退变质，温压条件有所降低，由第二世代石榴子石与黑云母矿物对成分求得T=504℃，但它不应代表第一幕变形后的一个降温降压阶段（过程），而是反映了嵩阳运动第二幕变形的变质作用条件刚达到接近嵩阳运动第一幕变形晚期的水平，处于相对嵩阳运动第一幕变形较浅的构造层次内，可能代表了由于逆冲推覆型韧性剪切活动造成的短时温压再次升高。第三期变质主要是中岳运动第一幕的结果，仍表现为剪切退变温压条件仅达使岩石发生轻微变质的低绿岩相。中岳运动第二、第三幕及以后的变形，基本未达到发生变质作用的温压条件，说明它们的变形基本是在近地表的条件下发生的。
