： 许渊中的法语作品为福楼拜名作《包法利夫人》,其余的大部分作品都是英语作品.云南大学教授赵仲牧先生在回忆他的老师的时候有以下一段描述许渊中的话语:“教我英语的老师,其中就有著名的翻译家许渊中.他是把唐诗翻译成英语的名家,可以说是首屈一指的唐诗翻译者.由于他嗓门高、个子也比较高大,所以当时有个外号叫“许烟囱”.后来他用笔名“许渊冲”也和这个外号有关.”
