封建主义思想残余仍严重地影响着我们今天的社会生活。其表现与危害至少有以下几个方面。
一是迷信盛行。在现实生活中，有些人，甚至有些公务员仍然崇拜、迷信某种虚幻的超自然超人力的东西，有的甚至达到狂热的程度，失去了理智，抛弃了常识，置自己于他人的任意摆布和控制之下，成为科学和进步的对立面，危害社会的安定和进步。
二是等级观念。现在，在某些公务员那里等级观念仍相当严重地存在。位置高低成为这些人评价某个团体或个人价值的重要标准，这种思想直接导致对生产劳动者的鄙视，对科学、文化知识的轻视，这对我国现代化建设将产生极深的负面影响。
三是宗法观念。宗法观念是宗族本位主义封建思想的最基本观念。近些年来，特别在农村，宗族势力、宗法观念有所抬头，例如修宗谱、族谱、建祠堂之风大盛；修坟造墓日趋豪华。四是小农意识。在我国古代社会里，由于它的经济形态是自给自足的自然经济，家庭就是自给自足的经济实体，而在家庭内由于几千年农耕文化的深厚影响，小农业是其中占主导地位的方面，于是，人们在长期的小农业生产中就形成了独特的小农意识。小农意识的狭隘性对今天人们的思想还有较大的消极影响，是各种消极影响得以存在的心理基础。
